Advice on champagne

A good price, and you never know how much stock they actually have of these things.

You snooze you lose - I was sitting on the fence for this one after shelling out for a couple of cases on Sunday.

So, what do I know?
For the "official website review" of the event I reported back on, at post #1193, see the description below from the CD's newsletter. A little curious that it doesn't specify the Champagnes poured and lists only the canapés on the food side - but you do have the rapture, at least, that was missing from my review. :)

[TD]The Vue de Monde degustation dinner was a sumptuous pinnacle in The Champagne Dame's event diary.

The elegant setting, congenial ambience and beautiful food creations by Cory Campbell and team had guests overwhelmed with sensory delight. People came from all over the country to celebrate the collaboration of two experts at the top of their individual fields - and the result was extraordinary.

All were searching for a way to describe the superlative tasting journey they were taken on by the adventurous textural and flavour interweavings of champagne and food courses. Combinations which excited and stimulated the palate included the incredible canapes served upon arrival (pictured); truffle marshmallow (on the right), eel with white chocolate (top right) and apple gel with macadamia cream (on the left).

As the evening's drew to a close, all applauded the Vue de Monde team and The Champagne Dame for this remarkable degustation experience.

I think I will go the Krug on SQ Suites tomorrow. I don't have to drive when I get to Perth. Last week was a bit of a problem that I have not repeated where I had to drive on arrival with a hire car.
Now if you save on your champagne by quadruple dipping.....FF points on the purchase of gift cards, 5% discount on those Woolies gift cards from your RAC,rebate from starthere and free delivery from Dans....then there will be funds left over for long haul travel.....

Another dozen Taittinger heading my way.

Couldn't go past a delivered price of $40.20/bottle with Amex cashback, wish gift cards and starthere!

Could get 6 for $38.5 but a deal this good might not be back in a hurry!

But, IIRC, you never partake when we have an AFF gathering, cynicor! Closet drinker:confused: - or have you come under the spell of Princess Fiona:confused::p.

How much is the Amex cashback?

I like the way you think. I went four cases though... *oops*

If you paid with a gift card, even if purchased with an amex, you will not be eligible for the Amex cash back. I appreciate you would have made a partial payment on amex to qualify but lurkers here may get caught up in the excitement and forget that bit. Just saying.;)

Oh, I do drink! I'll upload a photo of my wine cabinet and bar for you tonight JohnM ;)

I generally don't drink at all if driving and I almost always drive to catch-ups as I'm coming straight from work. Was also on a weight-loss/exercise kick to an extent, I am chasing the one-arm muscle up...

I'll be partaking of the Rhum tomorrow night though.

Why would this be the case?

All amex know is $50 was charged, and $20 cashback is due. You can even buy a gift card and be eligible.

Edit-
Oh, I get what you mean...

Don't pay with a gift card purchased on amex to try to qualify. Got it.

Of course you can use a giftcard for some of the cost and just leave $50 to pay with the Amex itself to get the credit, I suspect!
