Interesting - but these rankings do raise the question:
Best of what? What else was in the field?
Do you have the back story UITA?

Had a good read of this in the Qantas in flight magazine this week. http://www.qantas.com.au/infodetail/flying/inTheAir/inflightMagazine/wine.pdf

This place caught my eye in particular, more JQ and champagne experiences to be had.

I'll also be doing the bar in Gent next year, with luck.

Ku De Ta, Bali
9 Jalan Kayu Aya, Seminyak, Bali,Indonesia. kudeta.net

“One of my favourite bars is Ku De Ta on the beach in Bali. Having a glass of Billecart-Salmon Rosé watching sunset on the sea– yes, that’s a treat,” says Antoine Roland-Billecart, owner and director, Billecart-Salmon.
With its Seminyak beach front location, Ku De Ta is more than an idyllic sunset venue, offering fine dining all day. Global cuisine with a Mediterranean twist flows continuously from three kitchens, employing more than 80 full-timestaff, including butchers, bakersand pastry chefs. The bar’s champagne list is small, but features top houses.

French - Marchand & Burch Cremont de Bourgogne Brut Blanc NV (92/100)

As you were :)

Got a couple of bottles of that from Epiqure. SWMBO thinks it's rather ok.

I have the whole article but sorry my enthusiasm for typing is fairly limited :)
Maybe it's googleable?? It was in The West Australian today...

Been here - done this - MAGNIFICANT:

For those who question why anybody would go to Bali - this restaurant / experience alone is sufficient to substantiate a visit IMHO.

Been to any of the other places in the linked article?
Oh sorry - TBH I didn't look at the article - just the mention KuDeTa brought back such wonderful memories.

Edit: Unfortunately no - but had we known about the 2 New York bars we would have sampled one for sure I think - *Yanks are not averse to allowing grossly inflated prices to render any intention or desire worthless. Think XS night club in Encore, Las Vegas - think USD650 for Moet NV - think USD850 for Veuve NV - get my drift?

Hell! $650 for Moët nv!

The story made all the places sound so good, always hard to see past the potential poetic licence. So great to have a real world report to back things up. I'm back to thinking about a weekend trip to Bali for bubbles.

I stuck to soft drink at XS, even that was overpriced.

There, you see. I have betrayed my ignorance. Had no idea who Ray Jordan was. Now understand the context, thank you. :)

The Chicago place - but a while back now.
Problem with Champagne bars is that you can't try everything you would want to!
Some will allow a tasting flight, which can be entertaining - and it's always worth asking if that's an option. :)
