Advice on champagne

I don't think Dans would mistreat this wine because they are selling it cheap.

Not suggesting that this has happened with this wine....but crazy things like pallets being left out in the sun etc does happen. The beauty of buying it from Dan's is simply take it back if it isn't up to scratch :)

Sample of 1, I had one on the weekend (from BWS) & it was fine. Hope DM swap if any problems- I don't want a refund!!

If you look at the photos posted to this thread, it is clearly old stock... This just means they need to clear it and are you could find that they are under some kind of embargo not to sell it in the old packaging, hence the secret deal.

Given the timing of the World Cup, it is possible some time has passed since disgorgement, although given DM's business model I doubt it would be "too" long.

In my many years as a customer I have always found Dan Murphys wines to be stored appropriately.

If you are really worried about it, I suggest that you dispatch 6 bottles to me, and I shall "take one for the team" and perform some extensive "Quality Assurance Services". As a "once only offer" for AFF members I won't charge you for this service.

If anyone else feels the same way I'd be happy to be penegal's offsider in this arduous task :p

I would be more concerned about indifferent carriers leaving cartons lying around. Although the larger carriers all use covered warehouses, but as you say "take it back" if there are problems.
Dans will claim against their supplier

In no way was I suggesting that either DMs or the importers had mistreated this wine - I was pondering in my mind, but did not actually express the thought, as to where the wine may have been before it arrived here.

I will be commencing my taste test tomorrow, so long as the shipment arrives.

As others have mentioned, I think this is only about the branding.

Although I note the FIFA bottles are listed as $59.99ea when bought with the knowledge of what they are. Very odd.

At DM old stock gets discounted ahead of the new order delivery. I'd say this is what has happened here and they do not want to cheapen a premium brand by disclosing it.

Just had a phone call trying to sell me some wine. Said I'd bought Taittinger for $35 a bottle; he conceded defeat.

Sought out Ast Manager at Dan's tonight and asked him about Taittinger offer - he simply responded it was a 'World Cup' promo which was 6 mths ago so this offer simply stock clear out.

FTR sampled a bott tonight - at $31.80/bott best way to describe it 'liquid nectar'!
