Advice on champagne

BWS in SA have been clearing Clover Hill at $27 and Pipers Brook 2015 for $20. What’s the considered opinion on quality of either?

seppelt.com.au (cellardoor) is having a sale... salinger 2015 is $22.50, show sparkling 2008 is $85.

The clincher is that there seems to be 5.6% cashrewards + if you spend above $250 you get a six pack of coughpy sparkling thrown in.

Not sparkling but the 2018 St Peters is $56 a bottle.

I haven't seen it mentioned but there is a flybuys deal going on with flypay, hadn't heard of it before but looks to be a Coles group answer to PayPal? Either way if you haven't checked your flybuys account you may find an offer there, you get 4000 flybuys for signing up and making a transaction, I used mine then at First Choice for a bottle of Louis Roederer NV. Great overall deal with 4000 flybuys, 27% cashback and 10% off, will be interesting to see if it's all credited though as flypay stuck with a spinning wheel at payment, received an email from first choice so I guess something worked.

good spot - less with $25 birthday voucher

You have to change the store to get different pricing. I just looked for Burvale Vic and got $58.80 / $55.90 in any six.

They are probably just getting rid of old stock.
Should be $40.45 at First Choice today for a single bottle with 25% Shopback (or is it 27%? Their cyber Monday promo popup says 27% and so does the icon for First Choice in their app but when you enter the deal it quotes 25%) and 2000 flybuys for $50 spend.

In NSW, Roederer 242 can be had for $80 less up to 15% off, by applying the following Harris farm BF codes

Save $20 when you spend $220 - Code: BF20
Save $30 when you spend $280 - Code: BF30
Save $40 when you spend $320 - Code: BF40
Save $75 when you spend $500 - Code: BF75
Save $150 when you spend $1000 - Code: BF150

thanks - Louis Roederer Brut Premier $75 @ First Choice - $18.41 ShopBack - $16.20 price match refund ($58.80 @ Dan's) - 2000pts/$10 = $30.39 or $10.39 after also 4000pts/$20 via targeted Flypay first payment - ends today :)

Oddly enough I picked up my bottle from last week's flypay purchase and today's bottle from the 27% cashback with 2000 flybuys from First Choice, although the website says Louis Roederer Brut Premier I now have two bottles of Collection 242! Guess my locals sold out of NV (maybe I bought them all?) and have been restocked with 242.

I just collected my order from DMs and got 50/50 old and new.

I'd like to compare them, I guess it'd technically be a vertical tasting, just need an event where I'd be opening two bottles... might be a job for Christmas! I'm hoping they're similar.
I prefer 242, feels richer/toastier? I prefer the vintage concept anyway.

Tried a few different drops recently:

André Clouet Grande Reserve
André Clouet Brut Nature
Piper Heidsieck Rosé
House of Arras Brut Elite

Discovered they really aren't my style! I find the Grande Reserve/Arras Brut Elite to be a similar style, both remind me of Bollinger which I'm not a fan of, unfortunate as I'd heard great things about them! Brut Nature is too dry for me, as expected but I wanted to give such a champagne a go.

The rosé I'm still undecided on but I can best describe it as sparking port, very strong, not quite what I was expecting!

When did Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque become a $280 bottle? I bought a bottle in late April for $171 before cashback, some crazy price jumps recently.

Not sure what NV PIPER-HEIDSIECK REIMS CUVEE BRUT normally sells for - or what it is like, but the Sippery have it for $258/6 before the $30 off $250 spend currently being offered ($38/b) and less again from any credits you may have in your account.

I last bought this in gift boxes for 6x$40pb on the Sippery a while back, they bumped it up $3pb soon after that. It's one of the more consistent big volume NV. At a recent tasting I preferred the Pierre Bertrand 1er Cru NV from Vinimofo, $50 at that time.

I have a credit with them, but there never seems to be anything I want to buy.
I have a soft spot for the Apogee range of sparkling's - a bit more @ $57 - 67.50 but such is life

Lack of supply and higher demand.
Shipping delays certainly don't help.
They also reduced yield in the last year, so the supply issue in years to come is not going to get better.

Is the yield reduction climate related? Saw something interesting recently (YouTube video . think, maybe it was linked here?) about a lot of vines being planted in the UK as a future Champagne plan as both regions become warmer. Champagne will become less suited to growing grapes, instead they'll move to using the newer vines in the UK. Not sure what happens to the Champagne name once they can't grow the grapes there anymore!

Yes, looks like weather played a part:

Worldwide supply chain issues have affected local sales to the point where Endeavour Group have introduced a cap on champagne sales per person. 12 bottles per person per day.
