Advice on champagne

20% off everything @ Moreish using BF20 includes
  • Jacquesson Cuvée No. 744 Magnum 1.5L $252 delivered - 1 left
  • Larmandier-Bernier Latitude Blanc de Blancs $97.60 - 1 left

at $700-$750, Australia seems to be the cheapest in the world for 2013 Egly-Ouriet Brut Grand Cru Millésime - WA(WK)100, same as the 2008 of which its new disgorgement is double the price - Annandale Cellars have the 2012 for just $597/$507.45 (only WA(WK)98+) - retail allocations are/were 1-2 bottles of each, Waters Wine and Wine Emporium already/immediately sold out
interesting read:

Marc Chauvet is my remaining budget pick still available for around $40 that hasn't increased in price :)
the price-point for budget/value champagne now seems to have unfortunately moved from $40 to $60 - André Clouet is my pick/favourite:
for sparkling reds, Primo Estate apparently again sold out of their Joseph direct within a day of release last month, but 2008 Seppelt Show Sparkling Shiraz:

If its Jacquart its the same price as Vintage Cellars members special $50 per bottle. A very decent champagne at that price.
10% off @ Vintage Cellars with VIPSITEWIDE - ends tomorrow - after also 5% myColes, excluding cashback (5% Cashrewards, 2.3% ShopBack + $10/$200 app challenge)

Jacquart I believe.
Yes, I can confirm it’s Jacquart. Just ordered another 6 with Vinomofo $70 Amex offer on my other card combined with 8% Cashrewards so works out about $35 per bottle

encouraging experience at the bar at neutral bay Oaks for celebratory drinks;
piper heidseck (retails $55 +) was $95 pb;
charles heidseck (retails $95+) and such a fine drop, was $100 pb...
mumm's the word
I was at the Subiaco Hotel in Perth earlier this year and you could get a bottle of Mumm off their wine list for $70. Almost fell off my chair…and then ordered 2 bottles. 😊

BTW, Shopback has 25% off First Choice Liquor today until 3pm and Champagne (no Dom) is included in the cashback.

FWIW Taittinger Prelude is a big favorite in our Casa and has been ever since I first tasted it in SQ J years back - virtually never discounted one needs to seek high and low to source at good price - yesterday I was just Googling and stumbled across this - thedrinksociety

$99.99 is very competitive - Dans have it at $137.80 in a six - a few other sites have cheaper but I think in very limited numbers - anyways a call to Dans this morn secured a 'Price Beat' of $98.99 less 5% eGift Card for a doz = $94.04 I am more than happy with this price.

At Coles Online you can currently get an extra 20% off online liquor orders to a max discount of $50 (per cart). Offer ends 27 Dec, 2022. The discount is not stackable with some other 10% off liquor discount that's available, but it is stackable on items already on sale, and so depending on availability in your area it might make for some good value on certain items.

Just for example - Moet Vintage 2013 reduced already (NSW) by $23 to $95, and you can save another 20% taking it to $76, which is excellent pricing if you're a fan of this one. I picked up a few bottles of Veuve NV for over the silly season at $61.60 (currently reduced by $13 to $77 and then 20% off that), which I beleive is about as good as it's been, of late? Works for click-and-collect too.

Cheers,
Matt.

Yeah best for Veuve recently but only because it hasn't been on catalogue from what I've seen, I'm waiting on some flybuys+Cashrewards and possibly 10% off deals to come around. I received a $10 sitewide cashback from Cashrewards today valid until tomorrow evening, worth checking your inbox if you're a member (needs email activation).

VC has a today only member offer, Taittinger NV for $74.
CR has a code on their site for $20 off when you spend $200, using coupon VIP20. Expires midnight tonight.
CR only has 2.5% cashback.
Buy three bottles for ($222 less 20 = $202), less 4.59 cashback = $65.80 per bottle

Edit:
FC has a $20 off when you spend $200 using coupon TWENTYOFF. Expires midnight tonight.
Stack with CR 15% cashback, $40 cap per member.
Taittinger NV is $82 a bottle, so buying three bottles for ($246 less 20 = $226), less 30.82 cashback = $65.06 per bottle.
Veuve Clicquot NV is $70 a bottle, so three bottles is ($210 less 20 = $190), less 25.91 cashback = $54.70 per bottle

I used Langtons for a Krug 2004 Champagne they are expensive but scored it 300 a bottle. ( had to buy 3)

These funny deals come up albeit rarely. Normal price is 500

Good deal on Krug vintage, I've been close to buying a bottle many times but never have, haven't seen it for 300 before!

On the topic of Veuve it's $53.46 for one bottle at Liquorland today with 10% off sitewide and 15% ShopBack, normally I'd be going for a price lower than this but seems the best around leading into Christmas. Second is the FC price above if you're after more, essentially the same but only works for 3 bottles.

Looks like Costco AU now have this available for $42, but you can still get it at Good Drop for $25. I really like it for an everyday drinking Champagne (not that I drink Champagne every day). Hope Good Drop don't see this and match the Costco price Kirkland Brut NV Champagne
Thanks for the heads up - I was looking for another everyday drinking champers (and what's wrong with drinking it every day? :) - ask Madame Bollinger)

Just to provide some feedback on the Kirkland Brut NV Champagne. MrsK and I have sampled a couple of bottles, and while it's nice I wouldn't pay more than $25 for it - there's better stuff in the $45-$50 range. We think Aldi's Monsigny Champagne Brut NV, at $27/bottle is a better choice, but then, each to their own.
