Aeroplan (Air Canada) is now selling points

I just bought mine for Europe 2026. Here is hoping there are no devaulations or dynamic pricing changes on the airlines I intend to fly with.
When in 2026 have you booked pls? I did wonder if I should get more points for 2026 but then figured there might be another sale at some point later this year?

It’s only for the Air Canada signature lounge. For all other airlines and lounges it’s the standard business class offering, whatever that might be (plus any status you might have).
Thanks for your response, @MEL_Traveller. I'll probably have to look up the partner airlines that ticket involves but if the multi-leg ticket is all in business, then I should get the business benefits (lounge entry, extra luggage, priority security, etc.) - I know this isn't the case for USA airlines?

Also, how far through would the checked luggage normally go without having to re-check it in? Would it be when the airline changes if they're not partners with each other?

Even with US airlines,if you are connecting to or from an international flight, you will likely have lounge access provided you stay with the one airline. United connecting to united for example will give you lounge access for the whole trip at all ports, provided you have an international flight on united.

If you swap airlines you might not have the same benefits.

Luggage is generally tagged to the final destination for that day’s travel. Most airlines have an interline agreement. It’s pretty rare if they don’t… just some choose not to honour it under certain conditions (for example separate tickets).

If you’re on an award ticket issued by aeroplan, expect bags to end up at the final destination, even if say swapping between star and non-star partners.

Yet more puffing up of Aeroplan but I can’t for the life of me get them to resend the confirmation email so am locked out of ever joining because my details do t work using another email address.

Pretty cool: I wasn't expecting the bag to be checked to the final destination (after four or five legs over a couple of days).

It's good that the benefits should be available on each leg, including lounge entry.

You've been very helpful, @MEL_Traveller: thank you.

As long as it’s ’same day’ you’ll get the benefits. If you have a stopover or overnight you may have to collect bags.

Couldn't you just open another account with a different email address?

Just an FYI and a data point that you can effectively "buy" Aeroplan points at time of booking if you are short some points, I think it's reasonable, calculated it at about 1.9CPM (A$) which I think is a good rate
That's only if they're on bonus which we're past now.

Even off bonus it’s only about 2CPM
Is it the same price as the bonus price if topping up this way? I haven't bought Aeroplan points in a bonus offer in a while so not sure what price they get down to and whether that price is the same if topping up during a booking

Last 100% bonus if i did my maths right was around 1.9c AUD per point. (With the bonus). Thats why im a bit surprised at the top up rate.

I’ve drained my account with some recent bookings but have 74k remaining and BNE-DOH on VA is 110k points so these are my options as I’m short of points required.
As you can see they value 44k at CA$836
