AFF Flight Tracker

Wherte do you need to take the request form?

The immigration office in your capital city. (Assuming you are just going down the easily accessible data route... Rather than FOI or archives.

On the right hand side of the AFF Discussion page here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/forum.php. It lists the top users by flights, distance etc.. but it also lists Top User by Popularity...how did serfty become so popular? I don't see anything on the openflights part of the site that lets me make serfty even more popular!

Every time someone clicks your personal link to see your flights, it's recorded. When the Flight Tracker first started he was the top user by distance and flights, so naturally lots clicked on his profile link to see where he'd flown. Since then, other users have added their flights and may have eclipsed him, but his profile has still been clicked more.

I was wondering if it was somehow linked to the number of "likes" or such, but didn't think its integration into AFF woul be so sophisticated. It all makes sense now, Thanks :)

By clicking "about" when in the Flight Tracker you can see the full breakdown.

OpenFlights: About

Thats an interesting page, and not just because I make an appearance on it ;)

Top 10 airports
Sydney Intl SYD 6044
Melbourne Intl MEL 4928
Brisbane Intl BNE 3387
Changi Intl SIN 1197
Los Angeles Intl LAX 1109
Auckland Intl AKL 1000
Adelaide Intl ADL 920
Hong Kong Intl HKG 900
Perth Intl PER 846
Heathrow LHR 832

Good grief, QFi should be looking at those stats!

I'd like to put in a request, from the Discussion Board main page there is a link to the right to the Flight Tracker stats, as mentioned above, who's leading etc. Would it be possible for the top link "Flights Recorded" to link to the about page instead of the entry area, so it's easier to look at the stats? ;)

Thought I would add to this thread instead of starting a new one...

I'm trying to get started with uploading my flight log to the AFF flight tracker. I currently have them all saved on a database known as airfleets.. is there any way to import this or do I have to go through and enter each flight individually again?

You can import CSV files into the tracker. I suggest you manually enter a few into the flight tracker, which you can them export out, then continue populating in a spreadsheet and delete the manual entry rows.. Then simply import in the new data.

Your existing database should be able to generate the data as a CSV file, in which case its simply a case of reformatting your existing data.

I set up by using Firefox Cell Copy and paste (test) into an Excel spreadsheet from my BA97 web page display.

I was able to reformat and go from there.

Virgin Australia/V Australia and Pacific Blue are all in different spots, not sure whether these 3 can be combined.

Or DJ should be Virgin Blue/Pacific Blue and VA should be Virgin Australia/V Australia.

Would you prefer to list who you historically flew, or who they are now?

For instance, I've not flown into BKK (Suvarnabhumi) but flew a lot into BKK (Don Mueang - which is now DMK and spelled wrong), so have listed DMK as the port for past flights, even though it was BKK at the time. Same for Kai Tak, not even a real airport anymore :p

Though I do understand how it can confuse things if you can't have multiple airlines share the same code?

Just tried adding my current trip onto flight tracker, but it's saying Fiji doesn't exist (Nadi international airport: (NAN).

Please add a new country (2 airports)?

If you have a look at my map, I have flights that have been there, and are logged.

Had no issues dummy adding a flight between NAN and LHR just now too.

It also doesn't recognise Qantaslink as an airline.

Probably a similar issue to Bundy Bear's issue with differentiating between Virgin Blue of old and Virgin Australia now, as they've shared the same code.

That said, I just changed the last flight entered to Qantaslink, and it saved it and is displaying (though will probably change it back), but here's a screenshot for proof.
