AFF Flight Tracker

Have you tried switching between "detailed" and "basic" entry, at least to get it in the database?

I've had no issues with any of my flight, and even added an airport :p

I shall try to enter your flight into my list in a second and see what happens ;)

Edit: I managed to enter it and delete it without any issues.

Thanks samh004, entering in basic mode worked fine. I tried to then add the extra detail and it gave the same error code so I will leave it for the moment.

Strangely the other 2 flights with errors corrected themselves once one was entered in basic mode - they are not consecutive flights. I guess I will see what happens when I go to enter more later.

Have you also tried a different browser, as it could just be a browser related bug?

Just tried Chrome - no difference, I will try Safari tonight.

I had a bit more of a play and everything works OK adding 1 new parameter and saving it and then another etc until I add the aircraft type so I will leave it blank for the moment.

What is the aircraft type you are trying to add, perhaps whichever it is isn't playing well, and simply calling it something else will work? I know we're all particular with how we refer to a type, such as 747, 747-400, 747-400ER, 744, Boeing 744ER, etc... but it could just be as simple as calling it something else :p

It was playing up with A330-300 and Dash 8
Trying to enter Dash 8 just kept coming up up as "De Havill... 00 Series" so I had just been typing d and selecting it from the auto suggested options.

The one A330-300 Flight I was having trouble with has now "stuck" - I will try entering something else and see what happens.

Yes - the aircraft type seems to be the most 'buggy' variable with the autofill/autocomplete being a very dumb thing indeed, sometimes picking random aircraft types unrelated to the characters you are entering, and a huge but strangely incomplete array of random often incorrect aircraft designations. See example:

I think its been asked before but can we get Virgin Australia changed from DJ to VA or is it outside the control of AFF moderators?

Is there a way to remove the flight tracker from your profile?

Is there general Concensus of whether this should be used for Domestic or International.

i have only loaded International as I fly MEL-SYD weekly and so would have one damn big line showing up.

it was hard enough remembering INT flights for last 8 or so years I have been flying for work

I am not sure if this will help anyone but I have found some of my trips wouldn't import if my itinerary involved flying through a new airport. The tracker won't accept the IATA code as its database hasn't been updated since 2012 (going by the recent changes page).

You can contact admin about new airports / codes. I had the same issue in 2013 and got 2 obscure airports in Alaska added.

I and I think most users load all fights onto it. It depends how complete you want the stats to be (and if you can be bothered going back) as to whether you include a repetitive domestic flight.

I include all flights. Massive line between ADL and SYD. A bit of a negative with openflights, wonder if there is a setting to change the line thickness.

One of these days, I'll have enough time to download my flights from BA97 and then trim the excel sprreadsheet to match the data requirements of Flight Tracker.

I tried doing it once, but the editing of the excel spreadsheet took too long and it went off the radar...

I did this ... used firefox with manual "cell" copy and paste to insert into excel.

Then some reformatting, exporting (several tries) and ... viola!

I still have 10 years of travel to import.

I include all flights too and have a few thick lines between heavily frequented city pairs.

I was also able to add an airport (WTB) myself, not sure if that's because I'm the Social Ambassador or if everyone can do it.

If only I knew what you just said... :(

Still haven't done it. May not get a chance before February

I once sent feedback to Openflights about codes that are used by more than one airline but I never received a reply and haven't noticed any changes. This should be possible since a country has to be specified for the airline and also whether it is active or not.

Edit: One of the airlines in question was Jetstar Japan (GK) which clashes with Genesis. The other one was one that has now ceased flying and its code had been reassigned to a newer airline.

I added in BQB myself also. Bit of a pain to do but happy to make the effort as I'm now preferring AFF Flight Tracker to FlightMemory.

Eek, I just realised that my BA97 tracks my 25 years of flying (well, Feb 15 will tick over). Hope I can get the spreadsheet to work

I sucessfully exported data from my excel spreadsheet into flighttracker but have become aware of some other issues.

I noticed some time ago that if I leave myself logged in to AFF for a while with a Flighttracker window open, when I return to the page the map displayed will still be mine but the flight list won't match. The data will be entirely different. It will look like someone else's flight history entirely.

More recently, I became aware that another user, when viewing my flight tracker, was seeing my map but the wrong list of flight data.
I at first thought I had made an error but I checked and my flight data was entirely accurate.
Is this a common problem?

I trust discussion of this technical issue will remain calm and on topic.

I hope I'm as lucky as you with the exporting of my data...

The technical issue sounds like something admin needs to hear so he can take it up - I've let him know.
