AFF Flight Tracker

Also, Air Pacific has now been renamed back to Fiji Airlines.

Will try again in the next few days, after arriving home.

I don't know how to change airline names, just add new ones. It might be a job for admin/support. I know in the past I sent an email to OpenFlights to change from Virgin Blue to Virgin Australia.

Is someone here looking after updates? Can we add in YBEE and also Port Augusta (sorry not sure of the code)?

You should be able to add airports yourself. See OpenFlights: FAQ.

I had a look and it seems that PUG is there. YBEE (Beverly?) is not, but I can't find the 3 digit code for it.

I've found a bug. Using Firefox.. if I try to add multiple lines (by clicking 'more') on manual flight additions, when you get to the 3rd line it hangs/crashes when trying to select the "to" airport. I've replicated this several times now with different routes (in case it was the particular airport that was an issue).

Does sound like a bug! I will report it to OpenFlights. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

I started with Flight Memory about 8 months ago and all entered manually (Lounge time put to ?good? use). It got to be like family history .. tracking down long lost flights.

Fortunately I've used a TA for flights in the past 7 years so all flights well recorded; then resorted to passports and got back to 1998. Sigh. 20 years of flying before that probably lost forever, except a number of internationals remembered for one reason or another..

RooFlyer did you work out an easy way to copy Flight Memory over to AFF Flight Tracker ?

For some strange reason:rolleyes: I started manually entering into FM and have nearly finished:cool: Don't really want to go thru the PITA manual method again.....but would like to get it up & running here on AFF.

Any tips would be gratefully received.

Not exactly easy, but works:

If you click on 'import' on AFF FT it gives you the recipe for importing from FM and its pretty much exactly what you need to do, but it took me a couple of goes.

You basically open up FM under the 'Flight Data' tab. This should list, over a number of pages, your flights.

For each page of Flight Data, you go to your browsers top menu (I use IE10) and 'save as' - this will save the web page. I remember you have to save it particularly has .html, not .hml Then, you use the AFF FT import pop up page and navigate to the saved web page files, and then 'upload' them one by one.

On importing, it will flag possible errors and it will stop the import if (from memory) you have airports not in the AFF FT list, or indeed airlines. (DJ Vs VA might cause problems). I had an obscure Alaskan airport in my FM data, and there is a facility to add new airports to AFF FT list, but it didn't work for me and Admin kindly added it in for me.

Good luck! :)

Great Stuff. Thanks a million "miles or two" .....will give it a crack and see how I end up.

Done....finally. Total PITA as only 10/14 pages would upload over from FM - had to manually load the rest.

Doesn't quite match FM so I've probably got some data issues however, it's very close so good enough for now.

Thanks for your assistance RooFlyer

AFF flight tracker is indeed a great tool however there's one thing I'm not fond of (admittedly it might even be that I don't know what setting to change to fix it).

When you add future trips into Flightmemory it doesn't show in your stats until after you have flown the segment. AFF Flight tracker includes all forward bookings in the overall stats. I don't like this as it's not a true account of your current mileage. Future flights show up in the graphical map as dotted lines which is fine, but they also total up in the overall miles, which is incorrect.

Unless I'm missing a setting somewhere?

Hi Folks - having an issue of late where I can't import future trips from TripIt. The pop-up has me successfully logged in, and I can see all the past trips that have been logged and are ticked off, by when I select 'future trips', I get an error saying "TripIt error for user 184: 14062087601501501". Been working great until this.

Am I alone with this one?

I have just tested it and it seems to be importing fine. Could have been a temporary "glitch". Please try again and PM me if you continue to have difficulties.

OK, thanks for confirming it was just me, as this pushed me to validate the only other thing it might have been... TripIt or the trip itself, within. In doing that, I found the issue... and very much my fault! I have only one trip in my future in TripIt right now (which really feels wrong...), but that one trip is a shared one, and I somehow managed to mark myself as a non-traveller on the itinerary. This meant it was visible in TripIt and on the apps (so looks normal, on the surface), but would not flow through to the widgets on Android, or to the Flight Tracker, as it doesn't see me as actually having any future travel plans. I added myself as a traveller, and both Flight Tracker and the Android TripIt widgets are now back to behaving like their good old selves.

Cheers.

I am not sure if this will help anyone but I have found some of my trips wouldn't import if my itinerary involved flying through a new airport. The tracker won't accept the IATA code as its database hasn't been updated since 2012 (going by the recent changes page).

One of these days, I'll have enough time to download my flights from BA97 and then trim the excel sprreadsheet to match the data requirements of Flight Tracker.

I tried doing it once, but the editing of the excel spreadsheet took too long and it went off the radar...

I have been slowly adding the flight info I have to the AFF Flight tracker and everything had been straight forward until trying to add some flights I did earlier this month. 3 of them have recorded as normal but the other 3 come up with an error. I left the flight tracker for a few days and tried again but I am still having no joy. I have tried deleting the entries and starting from scratch as well as trying to edit and save the changes.

On the paste below - the first column should have an aeroplane symbol indicating it was a flight but even though it has been selected it will not "stick". The error code listed in the comments section is 4089. If I go back to edit the details the flight departure time has QF in it instead of the time and the selected aircraft type has moved into the rego number field.
