so its now a matter of chosing a weekend in October?

I will be away in October, but back in about the second half of November - BindiBuys can tell me exactly when ;).

We plan to fly in from HKG on Friday 4 Nov, I have school reunion on the Sat 5th, back in Sydney.
Flying out on Wed 21 Sept.

Unlike you, Jess, but I think you missed the play on the word!

I thought Ms Tams' retort was an excellent return of serve and PER (capitalised) may have been a touch too obvious! 'tis why I gave a "like" (heaven knows there's not much else to like about PER ;))

It was! The penny did drop with a prompt from TomVexille. I was still dozy (or dozier than usual), having just awakened from my post-lunch nap :).

Thanks BB. I'll fill in my diary for next year right now ;):).

For AFF #10, I'll just need a day (or four) to drive back to PER from the Hunter Valley . So I can make it any time from the weekend of 12-13 Nov.

Same for us, be we would fly over for that weekend.

But you can start listing sporting events and other clashes if you like to help me when I do make the poll.

I guess we can never have a totally clashless society (;)) but to start it off......

NSW & WA school holidays: Sat 24 September - Mon 10 October 2016

Agreed. I prefer the cooler times of late Sep or early Oct.

Also need to avoid sporting finals and school holidays

As a general statement, the winters in SW WA have tended to start later and finish later over the last decade or so. The last few weeks have been quite mild in PER and it looks set to continue like that for at least another week.

That, in turn, means that Margaret River and such places 'down south' are quite a lot milder, making November usually a very good time to go there - and the flies, which can be bad in December in those regions, have not yet built up.

Of course, earlier in spring, around September can be an excellent time - especially in PER and N & E areas for the wildflowers. Just a greater chance of striking a rainy period then - and it clashes with sport finals.

If it wasn't evident from a previous post, I'm house-sitting Bindibuys' place in the Hunter Valley while she and MrBB swan around the world in F & J from late Sept- early Nov so I'll be on the wrong side of the country from mid-September until after then (and they will obviously be away.) Prior to that, I'll be on the Gibb River Road early June and in Africa  late June-early August.

My availability becomes limited to any weekend from 12-13 November or any weekend between 19-20 August to 9-10 September.

Weekends of 15/16 Oct and 22/23 Oct (less so) are difficult for me (yes a sporting event, but not one likely to affect anyone else here). Difficult, but not necessarily impossible.
