What time does the welcome drinks start? Seems I’ve double booked for Friday night and will be joining a little later.😅
  • Friday Drinks are at the Australian Heritage Hotel in a function room called the Wine Emporium and start at 18:00. You access the Wine Emporium from Gloucester Street, The Rocks.
  • Opera House tour begins at 10:15, meet at the Welcome Centre located on the Lower Concourse at least 15 minutes prior. If you haven't been there before, I suggest arriving with plenty of time to spare. There is a cloaking room at this location for any bags.
  • Saturday Dinner is at Long Chim (Corner of Pitt St & Angel Pl) from approx. 19:30. I am not aware if there is a bar available for pre-drinks, but you will need to keep track of what you drink and settle with me at the end, as they do not split drink bills, unfortunately.
  • Sunday HARS trip leaves from Central Railway Station, Bus Bay #9 (Western Forecourt Area – left after Country Trains platforms) at 08:30. There should be signage denoting "Australian Frequent Flyer" and it will be operated by Murrays with a trailer for luggage. It is important we get away on time.

Keen to understand this too, will determine if I come straight form office or head home first and then back in to the city.
I have updated the first post with the same information to make it easier to find.

Sydney has been chosen as the AFF Annual Gathering destination for 2019, occurring over the weekend of the 18th to 20th October. The average temperature range for October is 14.4ºC to 22.8ºC, with a relative humidity of 53%. The average rainfall is 82.2mm with 11 rainy days. It is Australia's most populous city (as of 2017).

Sydney has previously played host to an Annual Gathering, as the third city chosen in the second year. Sydney is not the first city to play host twice, with Melbourne previously taking that honour as the first (2008) and eighth (2014); and Adelaide as the second (2008) and twelfth (2018).

We are of course interested to hear your suggestions and ideas for the event, so together we can make it enjoyable for all, but with the dates locked in now, please feel free to solidify a place at the 2019 annual gathering.

Your organisers are @support behind the scenes and @Quickstatus on the ground who will be working hard to help find activities, restaurants and whatever else to make this event great!
I am now free to attend Friday's event. I note there is a $5 pre-paid charge. How do I pre-pay this? Am I still able to attend this event?

With the quarter-finalists for Rugby World Cup now confirmed and Australia vs England scheduled for 1815 AEDT on Saturday who else is sitting on the slightly anti-social table where ipads and phones are allowed?;)

I think @samh004 was keen.

England supporters need not apply. :p

I was born in London and was English before I was Australian ;) 1985 vs 2004!

In any case, I shall probably keep tabs on the game, but will have more pressing duties on the night as my alter-ego. I have received word that the tables will be made up of two smaller 5-seaters and a long 32-seater. You might like to gather on a 5-seater ;)

May not be able to make Friday drinks at this stage as we're down a few people this week (downside of it being in my home city on a work day) but I am most definitely looking forward to seeing you all at dinner on Saturday and on the HARS trip on Sunday :)

Looking forward to the weekend!

I'm a golfer, although not a very good one.
I try my best to look like a golfer but short, fat and balding get in the way.

As luck would have it I'm in Sydney this weekend and if I can find time away from the casino or the golf course I may attend drinks one night.

Wishing you all a great weekend.

As there is only likely to be one drink night – Friday – you are more than welcome to join the group, but there will still be a cover charge of $5 at the door.

Apparently, a whole pile of Sydney flights have been cancelled.

2 runways closed and all.

With any luck I can sneak in during a quiet moment.....

In this instance, I suspect, it’s no big deal just shift people onto another flight.

Off to Melbourne

And we’re on our way! Currently sitting in the OOL VA lounge waiting for our our flight to SYD which is delayed 35 minutes at this stage.
See you all soon 😀

Good luck! The wind is pretty fierce - my 18th floor apartment is howling, and riding my motorcycle home from the office today was certainly a fun challenge staying in my lane :)

We have a funeral to attend at Newcastle in the morning (Friday) so will be driving down to Sydney after that.
Citi Bank have a noodle thingy in Hyde Park, so we are having an early dinner before heading out to Homebush for the Tattoo.
See you all on Saturday morning at the Opera House.

Yep, damn windy. Saw a number of milk crates blown down George St this afternoon! I was struggling to walk up the hill, luckily I had enough weight to anchor me down. :p
