AFF Gathering #13 in SYD on 18 - 20 October 2019

I will start at gold. About that, as I am constantly in ADL and MEL, my parents live in SYD, now at Platinum.

I am sure I will bump into @JessicaTam and @serfty and a few others over the next 10 months. Now most likely a P1, if such a category exists for social events.

Friday included in the span of dates, unlike in Adelaide. Does this mean that its expected that there will be events planned for that day, or more likely to be an evening icebreaker? While I appreciate that events haven't been decided yet, and even suggestions called for ... ... but at the moment is it envisioned that this is an 'arrival' day or are we in for the full 3 days of fun? (ie looking at booking Award flights soon ...)

In the past the Friday gathering has been an opportunity for people to arrive when they feel like it. This year (is it still this year? ) a few members had booked flights before the Friday drinks were announced and so missed them.

You know, it's annoying that this is on the same weekend as it'll constrict flights/hotels. Luckily, tickets don't go on sale until April so we have the jump on that lot. I too would love to see the show, but liken this to watching it on TV... I'm going to save a live performance for Edinburgh.

Importantly, if anyone does go to one of these shows, they'll likely miss out on a dinner, unless doing the first show on the 17th.

Home city , so this will be a novelty. I might have to do a "run" on the Fri morning , just to come home on Fri afternoon , to get that AFF Gathering "feeling" . Gold at this stage , but likely will be Platinum

I would recommend to book early, if you are definitely attending, prepaid could be the option. West Hotel has prepaid B&B for around $247 the last time I checked. Mid-late Oct and Nov are usually international conference season and hotel rates could go absolutely nuts.

I don’t think we can be definite just yet, too hard to know how things will be with the little one.
