Platinum for me +1

I agree with MunitalP... A QP Catch up prior, will be the way to go.

Any suggestions for hotels will be welcome. I have only stayed at the Novotel and Sofitel there.

Gold for myself and +1, hoping to be Platinum. I will definitely make it if I've not been banished to SFO that weekend!

The +1 might make it there himself even if I don't go, as he seems to have become v good friends with a couple of AFFers. :)

I will be staying at Rydges Southbank most probably. A river view suite with balcony looking back towards the CBD (its awesome) for sub $300, 1/2 price drinks and meals with the added bonus of a train stops 100M from the hotel so no additional cab fares needed to and from the airport as I have NO intention of driving anywhere that weekend ;)

Mr!

We will try to avoid any venues for dinner in Fortitude Valley and anyone that wishes to visit the Valley can do so after dinner.

I need to ask -- why? There are some perfectly good restaurants in the Valley (especially in Chinatown and at the Emporium) that may be worth pursuing as an option; dismissing any of them out of hand because "it's the Valley" is a bit harsh.

Please advise on this thread whether you will be:
a) Platinum: Confirmed
b) Gold: Probable
c) Silver: Possible
d) Bronze: Scratching

Silver, possibly Gold at this stage.

We loved the Emporium so might possibly go back there. Or check out the Sofitel since there aren't any SPGs and the OH has developed an obsession with Accor status which has now become our "fallback" program. (see what happens when he hangs out with AFFers...)

I saw some awe when the reality of a 50% off (Rydges) Platinum card cut the dinner bill from $80 a head to $40 :) :) :)

Haven't dismissed any restaurant options. Do you have any suggestions?

The thinking behind it was because most people will be staying in the city and more than likely evening drinks will also be somewhere in the city and it will be easier to walk to the restaurant venue say Queen St Mall or Eagle St Pier than going over to the Valley.
