Aaah City Rowers. Lots of dodgy memories from my younger years there... I did suggest it earlier in this thread - It was done up and is now Jade Buddha, with the upstairs part called "the shadow lounge".

Not any more there isn't. Oxleys is closed and there is a place called "Drift" opening there.

Summit anyone?

Well there you go, I've been away from my "fatherland" for too long.

I almost said summit but not sure about the transport factor.

Please put me down as Gold, not sure what work is doing but if at all possible I will be there. Had a great time in Sydney last year.

Splitting a few taxis isn't too much... I think there's buses that run till a certain point in time too.

Summit's menu at the moment is really good. For a few years there it was pretty average but it's quite nice now.

I saw some awe when the reality of a 50% off (Rydges) Platinum card cut the dinner bill from $80 a head to $40 :) :) :)

Mr!
So how many dinners can you get the 50% off on.
I have an AHL shareholders card so can get 50% off at rydges bars or restaurants for up to 10.
Might be worthwhile for 1 of the drinks sessions.

The view from CBDs at Rydges isn't too crash hot, but from memory the Tapas are quite nice. And I think they do woodfired pizza.

It sounds like the price makes up for the view :!:

.... says he, looking at the lights of Melbourne from the Exec lounge at Hilton South Wharf.

Restaurant: Vapiano, located in the new Albert Lane on the Queen St Mall. A bit more in cost than your regular Italian restaurant, but the freshest tasting Italian I have ever had in a restaurant.

I really like Vapiano, and have had a few Friday night dinners there (and week days lunches with the team).
If you were to go there on a Friday night, you must book a table. The crowd of AFFers will be too large to be able to find a suitable table after 6pm on a Friday. Vapiano's system is great for splitting bills easily, as each person gets a chip card to charge all of their expenses against, and you hand in the card at the end and pay your bill. You also need to line up for pasta meals, they are made freshly in front of you - each chef can do two pasta meals at one time. Pizzas are taken on order, and you get a buzzer for them.
Some reviewers and bloggers have not liked this system; it might be a bit too casual for some AFFers, and just right for others. Some of you may have seen Vapiano in Germany, the UK, or the US - it's a German chain/franchise, and this is the first restaurant in Aus.

I don't know if there is a limit of people on the card. I have done 12 at dinner at world square before , but with drinks usually being pay as you go, it's simply a matter of taking the card each time you order until the bar staff remember your group

On Getaway tonight was a teaser for Limes Hotel, which is billing itself as boutique and has a roof top bar that looked to have pretty impressive views. It’s located in the Valley though. Still thought I’d put it out there.

Rooms looked good if anyone was looking for a place not a chain.

*Unfortunately the website is under significant load right now and was having problems loading graphics for me at first, before not loading at all ;)

The OH has booked his flights so please upgrade him to Platinum. :D

Unfortunately I can't confirm my own attendance at this point. I do hope to get a clearer picture by September or so.

OH is booked on QF620 MEL-BNE and returning on QF637 BNE-MEL. I will match these flights if I do go.

We're most likely staying at the Sofitel or the Novotel.

Put me down as Gold.
Whilst I live in BNE, I rely on public transport, so without a confirmed itinerary there's nothing for me to check against public transport schedules, and as a result no way for me to move up to Platinum.

A pickup could be arranged for some activities depending where you are. :)

Saw that, was hoping for something a little more concrete than proposed, and obviously interested if venues have been established

We have 5 months to go pretty much. We'll try get venues and activities sorted quickly, but there's plenty of time yet.
