Just checked www.wotif.com and found a few places in that price range...

Thanks for this MAX_1. Now that I know there are places to stay I will try to change my flight. I also recall staying somewhere downtown quite reasonably a couple years ago also.

[Start rant] Now I just need to persuade QANTAS to change my flight for just a service fee: when I called today they asked for £90 plus the $40 service fee. The terms of my RTW fare are clear that £90 is only needed for reroutes not date changes, but two QANTAS agents today were clear that written somewhere in the fare rules attached to the booking by the TA it said that any or all changes attracted a £90 charge plus a service fee. If I did not want to pay £90+$40 I would have to go back to the (UK) agent; what the QF web site advertising the RTW fare says about the fare rules did not matter. Perhaps the TA goofed? Perhaps QF are on a mission to make life miserable for folks who use a TA?[End rant]

The trophy above has the first winners name on it. JohnK Jindalle Golf Club 2009.
I suggest that this years winner keeps this trophy until the next play off and then returns it back.

I was hoping JohnK may have been up to it to defend his title, so I suggest that all other players take advantage and get your name on it.

I also gave a winners trophy that will be kept by the winner.

I will be in Townsville until Sunday evening , playing golf, with about 19 mates. I will miss catching up and meeting all those coming to brisbane this week-end.

Brisbnae Golf Club is still not allowing buggies onto the course due to the severe rains last week. Hopefully by Sunday , all should be fine. I will keep you posted on this.

Venues etc. have been finalised. I've updated the schedule of events and sent them to the moderators for updating in the sticky (located at http://www.australianfrequentflyer....nts/brisbane-gathering-oct-22-24-a-24983.html). Hotel locations have also been added to the Google Map (link in the sticky thread). There will also be some key information about our Saturday Dinner venue, Vapiano, which you should gloss over since there will be quite a few of us there.

A mixture of poor student life and 4 assignments due on Friday week means my weekend will be spent hammering out unit plans and work programs.

It would suck to fail the whole year due to a few assignments not getting done properly. But I shall see you at Bar Soma on Friday night. And there's a great event on there later that evening - free admission with some top quality local and Australian DJs.
