Nick has almost inspired me to go explore some of the very things I pass on my way to the office each day :)

Go visit the War Memorial.. Entry is by donation (I always put something in of the plastic variety). It is a humbling experience..

The first time I went there, I thought it was going to be a 2 hour visit. I was there about 4 and had to return to see the rest!

I was tempted by Auckland and another Lan J flight but I voted for Canberra.

The War Memorial is a great idea. National Gallery. Old Parliament House. Red Hill Lookout. If we chose the right weekend we could see Floriade.

If Canberra wins I think the organising committee will need regular get togethers at different restaurants in order to find the best venues. I'm in Canberra fairly regularly and can help out. A bbq at the Cotter would be great however transport would be an issue.

A winery tour on the Saturday could be a go. I'm licenced on a mini-bus and so is Hvr (sorry for dobbing you in). We could rent a mini-bus and if you're lucky we'll swing past Goulburn for a photo of the Big Merino (out of the way but fun).

I've also got my HR licence as well and am happy to drive.

I haven't voted. But I had a conference in Canberra 2 years ago where the dinner was in the war memorial. That was pretty good. Probably out of the question for an AFF do, compared to a conference of 120 odd people.

Yes, I must - I haven't been there in about 10 years, which was before I moved here.

Sep 17 to Oct 16 next year, so timeframe wise it's about right.

It does push up the accommodation rates though. I usually end up with house guests during one or two of the Floriade weekends for that reason :)

One of my friends looked at having a function at the War Memorial but among the expenses was the cost of security guards. Not cheap but would make for a great function.

Maybe Kamberra could be a Saturday night idea although that is much easier for the Northsiders.

My vote went to Canberra (why do I feel like I'm a judge in the Eurovision Song Contest?), narrowly, and primarily because as has been pointed out it is in Oz, we have not yet gathered there, and we're AFF.

But I'd be happy with any of the prospective locations (maybe DRW aside), especially AKL or ZQN. Perhaps if the 'main' do is in CBR or HBA, we could organise something else in NZ (as has been suggested).

I will get FLounge + Duty Free + 30% more spending power (based on approx exchange rate ATM.

I would be happy with ZQN or AKL as my first picks respectively.

 And knowing your flying habits bossreggie, you will be returning in a F suite on the EK 380!

Canberra seems to have come from behind. But the results are still too close to call. I wonder if our glorious nation can endure a third tie in 2 months...;)

Any of the mods have a last name of Oakeshott and a penchant for long posts

That beats my MR licence. One of my friends saw the MR on my licence and told me the motor registry had listed my title as Mr instead of Miss

Mines bigger than yours!! :p

Haha... I sure would!! Sadly with EK it's only a 777 between MEL - AKL :(
I used to do it on the A340-500 in an F Suite but I thing those planes now do the MEL - KUL -DXB run.

I did vow not to get on another EK A340 since the notorious EK incident at MEL.

A380 between SYD-AKL. I think I might try it next time I go over there, because it's roughly the same price as QF in J :)

Given my dismay at having to end up missing AFF#4 (after having previously attended all other Do's!), anyone up for a mini-AFF do in London, you know where to find me:!:

I will see you in a few weeks; I will be in town from Nov 19-21.

Good to see that Canberra has pulled in front. :D
