A winery tour on the Saturday could be a go. I'm licenced on a mini-bus and so is Hvr (sorry for dobbing you in). We could rent a mini-bus and if you're lucky we'll swing past Goulburn for a photo of the Big Merino (out of the way but fun).

Not a problem, happy to drive as well noting I am a teetotaller.

I've also got my HR licence as well and am happy to drive.
Same as me. :)

That beats my MR licence. One of my friends saw the MR on my licence and told me the motor registry had listed my title as Mr instead of Miss

Actually you have the licence to do a Mileage Run. :p Perfect for an AFF member.

Hmmm, which city to vote for? I am hoping to get out of here sometime next year but if I don't would like to fly somewhere.

Some careful consideration is needed here.

Haha... I sure would!! Sadly with EK it's only a 777 between MEL - AKL :(
I used to do it on the A340-500 in an F Suite but I thing those planes now do the MEL - KUL -DXB run.

I did vow not to get on another EK A340 since the notorious EK incident at MEL.

Yes that was disgraceful, they sacked those pilots I believe.

Is there a not a double check system to confirm the weight entered on an Airbus versus Boeing?

Pilots both resigned. (sacked)

Airbus issued a directive after this incident requiring BOTH pilots to enter the info re takeoff to prevent anything similar. IIRC

Well CBR is starting to pull ahead, looks like the organising committee should start planning. :) Maybe some initial discussions at our get together on 11 December?

I went with HBA solely as it is the only capital city I haven't been to yet . STill, nothing wrong with Canberra, and it sounds half organised already:shock:

The scary thing is I've suggested some of those plans!!!!:shock::shock:

Now if I can lure everyone into the National Gallery and show them the Sardine Cans.......

How easy do you think it will be to get people to visit QBN?

I was going to reply that I have to drive through Qbn to get to Canberra but then I remembered I can turn right at Bungendore and come into Canberra from the north.

Personal opinion only. There are plenty of places left in Australia to have an Australian Frequent Flyer get together before going to NZ.

I voted for Canberra as it is severely underrated and has plenty to offer.
Which is why I have also voted for Canberra.

I find it very surprising that it has not been chosen as a venue for an Ozfest yet.

I suppose Canberra and Perth will be the only cities left in contention for Ozfest 9 in 2012....(excluding Alice Springs, of course:shock:)

Why not the Hunter Valley? Or Margaret River?

Why not the Hunter Valley? Or Margaret River?
They will be good options for wine lovers but Ozfest has always been at a major different city to date (with the exception of Syd x2); also accessibilty for US attendees (ie flying in /out with a limited stay) has always been an issue...

Hey All.

I just wanted to give this thread a **Bump**.

Has the voting finished? Have we made a decision regarding dates?

It looks like CBR is clearly ahead.

I'd like to lock in some dates, as 2011 sees me with the most travel I have ever done in a single year and I'd like to attend the gathering.

CBR is certainly leading the pack, especially with people who voted for ZQN with CBR as a second choice.

Looking at dates in past years, October 21-23rd would be typical. Parliament is not sitting during these dates.

Having said that, Floriade finishes up on the 16th so we could move it earlier if people want to attend.

Parliament dates are:

I would prefer not to hold the gathering on the 7-9th of October. That's a long weekend here. Not only does Canberra shutdown on long weekends, but there's a good chance that I will be spending it at the beach :)

Canberra clearly won, and I think from recollection dates were dependant on when parliament (or whatever it’s called here) is in session, so are those dates for next year available yet?

Good to see Canberra got the most votes.

Unfortunately I have a busy October 2011 so the date chosen will be critical in my decision to attend.

Late to the party again but it seems that a decision will or has been made now.

I would have given up my vote anyway because any of those places would (technically) be fine, or otherwise my painful split would have been between CBR and HBA. I've been to both and I like HBA more, but that's probably because all my excursions to CBR haven't been all that interesting. So if we have AFF#5 in CBR, I'd want someone to be able to show CBR how it should be.

Possibly better than we tried to show BNE as it is, but then again there isn't much to BNE at all. If you want to enjoy the BNE area, you need a car and a good day for driving.
