Hi Everyone,

I had a last minute meeting booked at Robina tomorrow. We are going overseas on Wednesday so Sunday has been reserved for family catch ups at home and as *Red Roo* as stated the flights were pretty full for last minute booking so we are around on Saturday only. I would love to meet some of you.
We are flying SYD - BNE - SYD. My meeting is at 9:30, about an hour I think, we will have a hire car and we have the annual tickets for Dreamworld/Q1. Is anyone going to the theme parks or is there any day time activity. I think we will miss the Q1 climb and probably wont have time for the dinner either.
Anyone else flying to BNE or too/from SYD tomorrow??

If I don't see you, next time for sure :-)

Those doing the Q1 Climb also have access to the Q1 observation deck so you could certainly see them afterwards. However there are only 5.

I know carlousmoochous is doing a theme park day, but I don't know which one. I know it's certainly hot enough today that I've just had a dip in the pool and am feeling very refreshed. Ditto for penegal.

I was a bit slack on the daytime activities I'm afraid.

I wouldn't say slack at all.
If I had of planned it out better we would have had our tickets and been there for Sat & Sun, but I had a last minute funeral in QLD to go to last weekend so we really weren't planning 2 weekends in a row, well we were just there a month ago so we weren't planning to go again until Feb apart from my conflict over attending this gathering or not. Told myself couldn't spare the money/points on a been there done that place only to end up here and worse off than if we had of booked when I first saw this and found out it was still open for attendance.
Oh well. If I meet people I do, if I don't I will some other day - on the road no doubt.
Hope its not too hot up there tomorrow.
Have fun everyone!

Hey sorry for being slack, in the canberra DJ lounge with anchew having a glass of bubbly. Heading to movieworld tomorrow if anyone wants to join - hopefully BBQ on Sunday :) Dinner sat night.

I hope everyone enjoys drinks and dinner.

Too tired to go anywhere....

recognise a few familiar faces there, looks like a good time is being had by all :)

I know Vapiano came from this way (Germany I think?), I like the concept and over here the food is quite decent cost vs quality. Be interesting to see what it's like in AU prices!

Hey all

Sam - you have done an awesome job - good on you!

I'm sorry I was a late scratching but as I informed Sam 3 or 4 weeks ago, I had to pull out due to a new job which has me based around 100km out of KTA. I couldn't change my roster to suit...

Have a great time everyone, and thank Sam for his awesome commitment to this event

Looks like it was fun at Vapiano
Was thinking of you guys whilst doing a liquid tasting session in the SQ HKG extra spacious lounge with ample offerings.. :D
Look forward to meet up over next days..

I think the menu is online. vapiano.com.au

Another 3 have turned up having just arrived at OOL an hour ago. We have anchew, carlousmoochous and his +1.

Those doing the tower climb tomorrow are on non-alcoholic beverages. The rest are on beer/red wine.

Sam - you have done an awesome job - good on you!

Thanks! :)

Wishing you all a wonderful time....as I told Sam, I'm in between 2 big trips (Africa and Sth America) and really didn't have the time (or stamina) to make a quick trip to Ool....Sam seems to have done / organised a tremendous AFF DO!!

Prices are here: Italian food, Brisbane CBD, Pizza Pasta Salads Dolci and Bar, Albert Lane Italian Restaurant (different drop downs for the various food types). And yes, typical Australian prices...

Only marginally more by the look of it...

Definitely not cheap Italian food, but not overly expensive though. Go to Italy it is more expensive and quality is probably line ball or worse (for money), unless you find a really nice one (and speak Italian). Vapiano, at least in Brisbane, I've found to be consistently good quality and I'm happy to hand over money for it. We had Vapiano for AFF 4 in BNE and the general crowd seemed to enjoy it. Seems the same here.

Naturally, all Italian food when done badly, is pretty bad, period, no questions asked, no matter how much you paid for it.

Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow! Should be driving out from BNE just after lunch time or so, depending on how I finish off all my errands tomorrow morning.

I forgot to mention I received some wine this morning, compliments of Qantas and epiQure, for the BBQ, consisting of:

  • 6 x Wolf Blass Gold Label Sparkling 2007
  • 1 x Mixed exclusives dozen with bottle of Tawny (exclusive to new epiQure by QFF members)
This pack is a combination of wines that are made exclusively for our members, containing:
    • 4 bottles of Flametree Margaret River Chardonnay 2011
    • 4 bottles of Red Claw Pinot Noir 2010
    • 4 bottles of SC Pannell Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2010 – Stephen Pannell who makes the wine is on the Qantas Wine Panel
