On another note I may head down to Gold Coast tomorrow night. I don't want to have dinner but will say hello and may have a drink or two ?

How easy is it to get from train/bus to restaurant avoiding taxis? And is anyone heading back to Brisbane later that night?

At Vapiano you get a card then just add drinks to it, drinks at Q1 I can't see being cheap, a $21.00 cover charge is expensive.

When are you looking to catch the train down.

My plan was to leave work at 2:45pm and catch a Gold Coast train about 3:30pm, gets into Nerang about 4:34pm then it is a bus; I think 745 from Nerang, Pacific Fair, Jupiters Casino, Surfers Paradise

I don't know about getting too and from the station though. There is a bus you could catch to Broadbeach, and that passes by Ross Street, which you could then walk down to the hotel, but I'm not sure if a bus actually heads down the street from the station, perhaps?
I think it is possible but I would not arrive until ~8:30pm.

Train to Nerang and 745 bus to Peninsula Drive and then a short(ish) walk to Caville Ave. What time is dinner likely to finish and is anyone staying for drinks afterwards?

If I leave Surfers Paradise just after 11:00pm I can return to Central by ~1:00am.

This is what happens when people have way too much time on their hands and travel is free! ;)

I forgot that your travel is free... with me driving in and out of Surfers, and a tower climb the next day that requires me to have an almost zero blood alcohol reading, I'm not likely to drink much of anything, or stay on after dinner I'm afraid.

On a more serious note, I may need to amend my arrival time on Friday from morning until evening due to some last minute "positioning issues"... I am still coming, just perhaps not the most efficient flight routing.

I should know for sure by COB Thursday (SST) ;)

False alarm... I am at the DJ lounge in Tullamarine T3 now :)

Hope everyone has a great time this weekend, sorry I could make it (well not that sorry, I'm right now sitting in the SYD FLounge drinking champers like a good little AFFer :D)

See everyone next time...

Jealous - That's gotta be better than orange juice and barista coffee, although I am still 'recovering' from my inbound sector, so probably wouldn't drink now anyway :p

After a somewhat coughpy week I am very much looking forward to this weekend :)

Hi All,

Look forward to meeting you all on Sunday.
I am travelling up on JQ404 (arrive 0940) and back on JQ423 (depart 1805) – seems QF SYD-OOL is too popular for me to get onto!
If anyone is going to be arriving around the same time and would like to meet up PM me.

Red Roo

There will be a few AFFers on QF860, so I'm sure you'll find a few of us around.

I'll wave to you from Terminal Three ;)

Haven't been to OOL for yonks. What's the terminal configuration as far as gates are concerned? Are QF, JQ, TT and VA all split up, or is it a common concourse with clusters of gates to each airline?

Also, I assume like pretty much all domestic concourses, the non-flying public are allowed airside?

Can't you get out your DYKWIA badge to get yourself a seat on the inaugural flight.

The QF website is still showing Flexi Saver seats for sale on QF860.

Newly renovated, common user terminal. Virgin generally take up gates 1-3, JQ take 4-6 and tiger floats around. Not sure where QF will pull up.

Apart from being a food court with a runway attached, I quite like OOL, it's clean and fast to get through.

Does QF oversell seats? Can't believe that there'd be seats left (barring some Y seats put aside for the WP benefit).
I wasn't logged into the QF site when I checked.

Expert Flyer is showing Y2 B2 H2 K2 M2 with everything else zero, so Red Roo, you better hop to it.

I'm not sure if they oversell the aircraft as a whole domestically, but they certainly oversell the Y cabin.
