The Grand is perfect for the bus from the airport...rumour has it there will be a train soon?? Or am I being naive lol
I was thinking getting around at night (after dinner) might be trickier.. so I wanted to stay at the Sofitel but they wouldn't take points :(
Didn't expect to end up at St Kilda though!! These AFF functions sound like they maybe messier than I expected;)

We'll revisit the train thing in about 30 years time. :)
Tram 96 finishes at St Kilda, so, just in case... ;)

Thank you all for your responses.

Given we are now up to 15ish for the RAAF museum I will investigate the bus (with driver) option... Consider yourself lucky to have avoiding having to suffer with me driving an Avis minibus :p :p

As yet no, but we are investigating the best way to move forward on this.

It'll either be a bank account to transfer a set amount to (forgoing credit card points) or through a booking website (but additional fees are then applicable). It will comply with the terms set forward here.

We are working on a payment solution. I am also working on the bus for Saturday (Williamstown to RAAF to City hotels).

Was looking at the logistics of attending last night. Coming on a budget and need everything to fall into place.

Hoping to come down either Friday night or Sat AM on VA and back on QF Sunday 6pm. If I come on Friday then I'll miss the evening events because of daylight saving :(.

Have some QF vouchers to spend but VA are cheaper on both outbound and inbound (plus if Happy Hour later today gives me a deal, even better) - missed the VA promo fares as inside 20 days :(. Whilst Saturday AM flight is even cheaper than Fri PM, I'd think that I would struggle to get out to Williamstown by the time you're all leaving for Point Cook (the first thing I want to do on Sat). Of course, Dinner of Sat night is a given.

Best part of the whole exercise - Hilton points rooms available both nights @ HoTP.

The logistics of golf on Sun is too much (bringing down clubs, transporting them) - haven't been to a MEL Yum Cha event yet so that will win.

Will keep you posted.

Likely to be:

Friday
Drinks & Dinner - No

Saturday
Early morning - No
Cruise & Williamstown - Yes (flights notwithstanding)
Dinner - Yes

Sunday
Option A - Golf - No
Option B - Yum Cha - Yes
Dinner - No

Got to go and research transport to Wiliamstown if I come down on Sat AM. Might mean I am light HLO, as I'd need to bring with me

At this stage we have roughly 13 for Friday night.

Rising to roughly 20 for Saturday afternoon activities.

Skyrocketing to about 30 for Saturday dinner!

Golf on the Sunday is is jeopardy, with only 2 signed up right now, but Yum Cha has about 20.

The farewell "Birthday" dinner has about 10.

Hi Sam...
It was so nice of you to greet me in the F lounge on a recent visit . I have been keeping track of this thread, hoping to come along to one or two things. Alas, it seems, I will be in the wrong country for that weekend. Hardiest thanks for your voluntary organising skills for the weekend, kind regards to my AFF friends, hope it will be a great weekend. Best Regards to all. John.

Okay, flights are booked:

Fri 24/10 VA354 BNE/MEL arrive 11.25pm

Accomodation organised @ HSW Friday night (Diamond award 70K points)

Accomodation for Sat night will be organised tomorrow - realised tonight I have a free night courtesy of my Macquarie CC, so will look tomorrow to see which property it can be used.

Sun 26/10 QF632 MEL/BNE Dapart 6.05pm
