Time to add my thanks to the thread:

Penegal and samh004 for their organisational skills. Penegal excelled at getting bookings for 48 at dinner. He also went above and beyond in supplying the wines and Champagne. I hope there was enough corkage in the "jar"

HSW and HotP for supplying accommodation for the majority of guests.

QF & VA for the majority of those traveling to/from the event (who was that person trying Tiger )

Straitman for organising the guest speaker

jb747 for his speech outlining his road to command of the A380's

Red Roo and admin for attending Sat dinner and supplying lucky door prizes.

It was enjoyable to meet a number of AFF'ers for the first time and those O know well, sharing common experiences.

Brickbats to the person(s) who banged on doors in the HOtP, leading to complaints early on Sun morning - they're very fortunate I was ahead and didn't who he (they) were.

My first annual AFF bash and what a bash it was.

Many thanks to penegal, samh004 and straitman plus any other organisers that I may not be aware of. Our guest speaker jb747 stole the show with his tale and such a pleasure to meet Red Roo.

I can't get over the generosity of this group. So many people offered to guest me into the Exec lounge at HOTP + breakfast, I needed a few mimi mees to take up the offers. And penegal, those 47 bottles of wine you provided at no cost to the group, what can I say.... my head still hurts!

And a very, very special thank you has to go to froggerADL, winning what I think was the best prize on the night and generously gifting it to me. The prize is a VA Gold membership which also gets me HH Gold. You sir are one hell of a dude!

It was also a pleasure to meet some new faces but unfortunately I was not able to introduce myself to everyone.
There will be another events so if I didn't get to meet you this time, hopefully next time.

If you happen to still be delayed, chicka and I just arrived. Took us 1:10 from the tram stop outside our hotel to walking into the lounge! Pretty good seeing as we took the tram/train/bus option through Flinders and Broadmeadows.

Think I'll go and get the $20 voucher being offered due to the delay and have a real coffee .

But enough about me! I would like to add my sincere thanks to penegal and samh004 for organising such a fantastic weekend and also to straitman for driving myself and Fifa Jr from HSW to HoTP on Sunday morning.
It's great catching up with like-minded people who don't think you are mad flying from CBR via SYD and HBA to get to MEL.

And now that I'm finally home a belated thank you to Penegal for the organising, the herding the wine and the conversation. To Samh004 for his organising skills and sincere congrats to you and your fiancee ... it was great to catch up with "old" faces (yes, you know who you are!) at an AFF (as distinct from FT) gathering and meet 'new' faces. And one has to thank the MEL weather for waiting until [-]AFF9[/-] AFF8 was officially finished before pelting down and delaying so many flights! I had a great time and look forward to seeing y'all again somewhere around the world.

Hope Fifa has made it through SYD by now ... MEL weather has reached us ...

Was nice to catch up with Lowjhg in MEL J lounge today, although I thought it's not fair that we are on the same flight but he seats in J and I'm in Y. Lucky the gate agent read my mind and we end up sitting together
So, the AFF annual meeting finished on a high for me and I would like to thank the organisers for putting together a great 3 day event. Was nice to catch up with familiar faces and meet lots of new people.
I hope everyone arrived home safe, especially the brave member who dared to fly Tiger
