If you happen to still be delayed, chicka and I just arrived. Took us 1:10 from the tram stop outside our hotel to walking into the lounge! Pretty good seeing as we took the tram/train/bus option through Flinders and Broadmeadows.

Sorry we missed you both, but they called our fight about 11.55am. Have arrived home safely after a great weekend !!

Thanks to everyone who was involved in the organising and all those who attended.

I did receive a PM from jb747 saying thanks to everyone that he met and how good a time he had on Saturday night.

Looks like we might finally get home tomorrow.

Many thanks to those members who both organised and contributed to AFF#8 (samh004, penegal, straitman and jb747 come to mind, sorry if I missed any). Thanks also to all the sponsors, and it was good to see Rach from QF at the event. Oh, and thanks to the RAAF chaps who guided us around Point Cook.

'Twas an excellent weekend and I look forward to AFF#9. On that note I'm thinking PER or CNS to be reasonable nominations for same.

Thank you

It really is fantastic to be involved in the organisation of these events, and it is a proud moment when things "go to plan" and people enjoy themselves. Special thanks to samh004, straitman, and others (you know who you are...) for their assistance behind the scenes. These events are really a team effort.

Big round of applause for jb747 for being our guest speaker, and his continued contribution to the forum. It was great to hear jb747 recall some tales of flying aircraft we saw in the museum earlier in the day. Thank you also to Red Roo for attending in person, and for the small gift.

Finally, thank you to all of you for attending, especially the newbies. Events like this are really fun because we are a big group of [mostly] like-minded people.

Now, for AFF 8... er I mean, AFF 9...

It's always great to put faces to avatars! Thank you for a wonderful evening AFFers. :)

As someone once (or twice) said "But wait, there's more!"...

Qantas epiQure members are welcome to an exclusive 10% off wine purchases until 31 October, 2014. Quote promo code AFF8.

Cheers!

Reminder:

Red Roo has kindly offered this discount code to AFF members... And it's even a unique code (not a recycled one).

I had actually moved hotels by then :p
Ooooh! Mattress run?

Had a great day out at Gisborne Golf Club on Sunday. Played with 3 members one being the president. Highly recommend the drive for anyone wanting to try a new golf course.

Thanks everyone for the invitation. I had an excellent night, and I'll certainly try to get to any others that fit in with the schedule.

And Bill...I checked my logbook too. We didn't fly together. Probably a good thing, as I expect the RAAF wanted their aircraft back.

A BIG Thank you to all the organisers, Penegal & Samh004 for the immaculate execution of such a wonderful and exhilarating weekend.

This is also not possible without the support of the wonderful moderation team, QF WP, Serfty, Straitman and etc. It was awesome to be able to put a face to the Admin handle as well which is a plus!

The highlight of the DO however, was the inspirational and eloquently delivered speech by jb747. Lots of new and interesting facts that kept us, the attendees, glued to the edge of our seats the entire time!

Finally it was great to be in company with like minded people yet again. Certainly a great weekend with Fifa, Hvr, Mickeyc747, Kiwi, kpc, etc. And many new faces including but not limited to boomy, Slc767338, hossein_au, etc...

For next year's DO, CNS will be a great location. Maybe we can then also charter a Q400 down to LRE for a day visit on one of the days as well! I will now also be confirming my attendance for next year's DO. You will find me staying in the Shangri-La in CNS should it be the location chosen for the DO.
