Being 'born and bred' in Adelaide I can probably answer any local questions you may have. If I can help let me know.

Saturday during the day I'm booked. But could join you all for dinner. Looks like you're going to Mapo Restaurant backtracking through the posts? Has the itinerary been finalised?

What's on the itinerary at the moment? Also, as side question, can you delete or remove a new thread? I somehow doubled up on [Seeking 'Rewards Scheme' Industry Expert]. Thanks
leadingedge,

Welcome to AFF. :D

You can delete new posts for about 24 hrs but not new threads. (Voice of experience speaking )

Your choices are to let it fade into obscurity or send a PM to one of the moderators who should be able to do so for you.

Mods are Dave Noble, Lindsay Wilson, NM & serfty,

Yea, Tap Inn's a good choice. big place, '5 mins out of the city' is right, multiple eateries and the food at Birdies Restaurant is about an 8 out of 10 - which is pretty good (I'm a harsh critic). Wineries - that's a tough one! Suggest McLaren Vale, scenery is not quite as good but many great wineries in close proximity. Haven't been to Mapo so have no opinion to offer. But the 'awards' suggest they are good. .....ending with Cricket on the Sunday....wise choice after a day and half of drinking.

As an old Barossa Boy I have to pipe up and say that if you guys are looking for a serious wine tour of the Barossa then this will surely disappoint!
Apart from most of the tour not actually being in the Barossa but surrounding regions, I suspect that the small amount of wineries visited would not represent the quality that the Barossa has to offer!

By avoiding most of the commercial wine 'factories' and going off track to the smaller boutique wineries spread throughout the valley, you will get to feel and taste the real Barossa!

There are also some fantastic places for lunch too!

If you guys are set on a day there, I am happy to suggest what not to miss!

It is, of course, much easier (and probably cheaper) to use an outfit set up to do a wine tour - I guess the trick will be to find one that goes to good wineries for a reasonable price. Otehrwise we face issues of getting a van/bus, a driver etc.

I guess then, the question is, are there better wine tours available than those that have been identified?

*bump*

Apart from pushing up this important Do, just putting in the melting pot that I've reseved my accommodation: 2 nights at the Hilton ADL.

Just a reminder for those that haven't done so, please get your details to me for name badges; detail required is:

AFF Handle - Real Name (first name only is OK) - Home Location

e.g.

jjdoe - John - SYD

Thank you to all of those that have already done so. Please also remember to send details for any significant others accompanying you.

Note: you can use email now or PM, since I've signed up for a Gold subscription in AFF (which shouldn't be a big problem unless we get ~200 people for this Do....)
