AFF Member Stock Discussion

I am thinking about being a medico..where could I get some advice….☺️

That is a very easy one to answer. - dont, and its the same answer I gave my children

I opine that you need to define what you seek to achieve from "stock investing"
I have not been able to successfully answer that one but have always stood at the sidelines looking in.
I think that one of the reasons is that it would be cognitively interesting. As a starting point - maybe as a hobby

Where do i learn to read/understand company financial reports?

I was very lucky being good friends with a fellow who was CEO and Chairman of a gold miner. Fortunately knew him before his company found enough gold for a mine. But he also taught me a lot about mining companies and I have focused on those with a reasonable success rate. Things such as directors and management buying or selling their own shares -it has to be on the public record.

Go to the ASX website. They do have some booklets on share investing and hold free seminars.

Another source I found valuable was Morningstar. They do have a free newsletter and are reputable. Here is a recent post on books to read.

There are many financial newsletters out there. Sign up for a couple of them and get a feeling for the market.
but of course you won't get any useful tips when paying nothing. You do have to spend some time when you are in the market for example knowing when to exit as well as what to buy. It can become addictive.

It appears that the US Fed has anther 0.75% interest rate hike possibility in the next 60 days which will not help the US market and that would affect our Australian stock market.
Tonight the $AUD has stopped dropping. I look that up on Kitco.com

My lithium preference was VUL at 70cents, Now it is just over $8 after highs of $14.
However by going to road shows and talking to Management I think there will be more. I will let you know in ~ a week after catching up on a couple.

I opine that you need to define what you seek to achieve from "stock investing"…BEORE asking for advice as it's a very broad church
I'd be interested to know if anyone seeks to achieve anything other than wealth accumulation from investing 🤔

I tend to only sell the duds unless there is a take over. This month i have Nearmap and Maca going off to new owners.
Day trading is not what we do.

You made me look at Tyro. That offer is way too low to interest us.
We have heaps of dividends coming but not from Tyro.
Mrscove got messed around by Westpac this week. She was really upset by them and I get surveyed by both Westpac and NAB. I will enjoy that Westpac survey.
Someone we know missed getting approved for a Westpac credit card and I was gobsmacked as the applicant has no debt and a family income of seven figures. Retail banking must be in disarray.

Well actually quite a few people are concerned about just wealth retention rather than accumulation which impacts the assets you invest in quite a lot.

Sold out of NWH today so if they jump it was me who took the monkey off their back.
Started buying MAH to replace NWH. Contracting does have risks…..
