Which is my question. Why have they assumed a date, then looked at coatings and then decided it's too expensive?

It was an example. A number of months have been mentioned in several threads; I was costing "worst case scenario" which for September was about $600. Flight costs affect me as I don't earn big $$ and therefore influence my vote.

While I love the idea of CNS, the simple fact is I wouldn't be able to justify the extra time and money to get there this year.

A sale on Qantas would get you MEL-CNS typically around $180 each way. Less on VA. And even less on the other airlines...

Possibly so but even if it didn't, paint is but one of many coatings.

Flight costs for personal travel are also a very important factor for me as the vast majority of my travel budget is committed to getting to work.

I think if we go to MEL coats might be required hence the coatings
