Sort of humorous comment with a twist. I think it is a good time to support the people who organise these things and put in the hard yards. Frankly, your carping comments made in respect of the FT Cairns meeting several years ago turned me right off future involvement. Good luck Sam and thanks for your efforts.Way off. We are still at the second last final decision stage.
Once a location and date is decided, and if indeed it is Cairns, hopefully we will be able to grab some cheap QF fares, as I have just flown back from Cairns on Jetstar and believe me never again! Have decided for once and for all unless there is no possible alternative will avoid.
I don't think anyone was criticising samh004?
There are clearly a number of members with strong opinions in both camps. You can never please everyone, so as this is a community the majority decision rules.
I have voiced my support for Melbourne several times and believe my reasoning is logical. However if Cairns is chosen I will evaluate my attendance based on factors at the time (cost, availability of leave days, etc).

I see an ongoing, persistent criticism of the decision to hold a second poll for location. As such it's a criticism of the person making the decision. If samh004 didn't make that decision then who did? The answer is irrelevant because it is still a criticism of whoever made the decision. Absolutely no need to harp on about it, or even bring it up in the first place.
It's time to decide where the next gathering is going to be held, and after that when. If we don't, time will pass us by and it'll be too late. I've added what I think were the contenders to a poll, your choice will be visible to others, and please speak up if you can offer a hand (pending dates) in organising activities at a particular location.
I quote from #1
At no point does it say 'narrow down the options' or anything of the sort.
My view is that the location was decided the first time, and then another vote decided after the outcome had been decided, for no real reason.
Anyway, MEL is currently a few ahead, just as it was the first time. The majority will speak, and hopefully it'll be resolved.

I had better shut up now.

If every time an election was re-done due to a close call or an outcome someone didn't want, we'd always be voting.
Regardless, if that's the general attitude, remove my vote for Melbourne, and i'll just not attend either. I'll now cease from commenting, as that's what you've effectively suggested.

Wasnt MEL the chosen location? And all that remained was to choose a date?
The OP of the previous poll was very clear. Vote for a location and then vote on a date for the most popular location.
Oh and 1 vote in front is still the most popular location.
The original poll was very clear that the poll was to decide the winner and MEL was the clear winner by 4 votes. Majority rule? You cannot turn around now and have another poll because a few people did not like the decision.
I also don't think the offline talk mentioned is a good idea.
Is the same thing going to happen when the date is decided? Dont like the date then petition for another date?
