I've only just cracked WP surely i can't be in the top 1% of WP's!

Any WP's not got this magazine?
umm, yep.

I got the first issue, then the GFC struck and my company changed travel policy for all travel to be disc-Y. Haven't seen one since. I've been WP for about six years now and have LTG. This year, I will have completed 500+hrs of flying - 95 flights (88.5% of flights on OW, 61.1% on QF(mainly long haul)) so a lot of time on QF metal. With all my travel disc-Y (or rarely Y) I figure I am just not valuable enough to QF to qualify for 'Air' now that I don't get to travel in J any more...

AIR is a loyalty gift and available only to the top one per cent of Qantas Platinum Frequent Flyers.

The "top one percent" by what measure, one wonders ... gross revenue, numbers of flights, proportion of flights in premium cabins, SC tally, some eye of newt and toe of frog? ;) This recently minted Platinum has yet to be so favoured.

I have an idea...

Everyone who gets this magazine, who dislikes it, throws it in the bin, generally does not want it for whatever reason, you can post them to me.

From there, I will distribute them to those who don't get the magazine so they can see a copy.

I will not be passing any of my copies along, but I do wait in eager anticipation of all the anti-air magazine AFF members to enrich a fellow AFF members life.

Thoughts on quality and content are subjective, so let those who have not had the chance to make up their minds, make it up for themselves.

So... Please copy and paste the following list with your positioning. Just use your user name, and I will PM you with my address, or request yours to post. I understand this will require some generosity on AFF members to spend $1.10 for a stamp, I will cover the on forwarding costs, because I'm just a nice guy ;)

Please dont reply with an add me, or anything similar, because for the extra 3 seconds it takes cut and paste the list updated in your reply, you can keep the list updated and active.

I've received every issue and have never flown in paid J. Whilst not being LTG, I'd say in my over 500 flights in the last 5 years that approx 90% of them were on QF metal.

that approx 90% of them were on QF metal.

This seems to be the key, rather than the overall number of SCs or flights.

For example, out of my 2,325 SCs earned CY 2010 (including booked flights through to the end of this month) - 1,985 were on QF metal with an additional 160 on a QF flight number. The balance (180) were earned on AA.

My housemate (who also receives AIR) flies a lot more than I do and 100% on QF metal so far this year.

Anyway @munitalP, I can give you unread copies of the current and previous issue (my household receives two copies of AIR). I'll even personally fly them down to you this evening if you like :D

I tend to agree. I know there are people who fly a lot more than me but ALL of my QFF status credits earned have been flying QANTAS.

Whilst I may not look forward to the magazine... I flick through it and then take it to work and leave it in the customer lounge.

Obviously some people must like it as it disappears, unlike most of the other magazines.

With the clients you would get I find it funny that they steal free mags.;)

Ok, if I ignore my non-OW flights (since QF wont know about most of those except for the ones where a single ticket has been issued for QF and a non-OW airline), for CY2010, of the 2300 SC earned (including next week's trip):

  • 1750 SC earned on QF (58 flights - 72% of my OW Flights incl 1 x JQ metal)
  • 295 SC earned CX (11 flights - 14% of my OW Flights)
  • 160 SC earned BA (6 flights - 7% of my OW Flights)
  • 65 SC earned AA (4 flights - 5% of my OW Flights)
  • 30 SC earned IB (2 flights - 2% of my OW Flights)
Perhaps I have too many non-QF flights to qualify for 'Air' readership.

Actually, I suspect that there is something less statistical going on here - for me anyway. When my travel policy changed in Oct08, I continued to travel extensively, but never received any issues beyond the first issue - for that membership year, I had already requalified for WP when the policy changed and only just fell short of PG due to the policy change (without the policy change, I would have exceeded 3k SCs easily that membership year).

What I think really happened is that the QF Account manager for my company told the AIR subscription manager to take all QF members from my company off the list as we would all by plebbing it in a Disc-Y from now on...

...
Any WP's not got this magazine?
As posted earlier in the thread; I have never received the mag ...

(Of course, for the first 10 months of this year of the > 2000 SC's I have earned, less than ¼ were earned on QF flight numbers from around ½ my oneworld flights.)

Recycle mine normally 10 minutes after opening. Not much of a read

I'd go with with that. There is nothing to appreciate on a lonely business trip more than a a new watch or a coughpy Jaguar..

But the cloud photos were very nice....
