Air Marshalls stealing your F seats? Airlines seem to think so

Another 'news' article from USA Today.

By going public with their concerns, the airlines shined a rare light on the behind-the-scenes tensions that sometimes arise in the secretive force that protects against terrorism in the skies. The disclosure prompted a harsh backlash from a group that represents mars

I’m sorry but I don’t follow :p

I’m guessing they don’t accumulate status though ;) which is unfortunate as it could come in handy when not on duty :p

I have a number of friends who are Air Marshalls and they do accrue SC's. Although one was told by the AFP that when he stops flying the AFP will take all his SC's off him......

Must email them a link to this thread. Am sure it will make my buddies chuckle.

I would get them to obtain some advice on this as I don't know if the AFP can demand return of the SC's. It would be the same as taxation benefits etc. If the Air Mashall did NOT pay for his frequent flyer membership then he would not accrue any SC's, but if he pays for his own membership then he should be entitled to retain same. I am far from any expert in this area, but I keep FF points from money earned from business spending on a credit card because I pay the memberhip fee attached to it and I can only assume that it would be the same situation with regard to SC's; if they pay for QF or whatever membership then they should be entitled to keep the SC's. But then again, it is a Government body so anythings possible.

Maybe it was QFF Points, not SC's. karens, can you confirm?

What about the 5K QFF every 450 SC's?

One of my Air Marshal friends said he was platinum (would have been partner gold too) and seemed to know alot about the first lounge. He didn't like not being able to enjoy the beverages on offer though.

Yep yep re the points for 450 sc's.

I would have thought that their cabin placement would have been a bit more random than just up front.
My thoughts exactly. It makes no sense to have 4 air marshalls sitting in row 1 when all the commotion is in row 74 down the back.

As for how anyone would know it’s an Air Marshall, surely they’re not indulging in the food and drink, and not sleeping when the cabin goes to sleep ;) Makes it pretty obvious.
LOL! Many people on a flight do not indulge in the food and drink or sleep when the cabin goes to sleep. Does not make them an air marshall though? ;)

Agreed. I just can't imagine what sort of "persuasion" could compel a pilot to open that door.
Perhaps killing a few crew members and/or passengers at random would be enough "persuasion".

What’s with the attitude to everyone (and me) today?
Now you know how I feel most days. :p

Just because some terrorists flew a few planes into buildings doesn’t mean that’s always just their goal....
I would be surprised if we see these type of hijackings occur again in the near future.

That's not bad work if you can get it , flying around the world all day in First Class, on the off chance that there's a terrorist attack.
Where do I apply? ;)

That's these days. See policy only ever comes about from past events, so because hijackers entered the coughpit once, it's expected they'd do the same, despite the door being strengthened and what not.

It'll take a few more terrorist attempts down the back of the cabin for the marshals to decide to move.

A little too predictable for my liking. Do terrorists read the news or frequent flyer forums?

I would have thought with all the intelligence we have on terrorist groups and the amount of money spent on security they could be more proactive (and a little unpredictable) rather than reactive.

Well, that would just prove how silly it would be to open the coughpit door. Quite simply, it will not be opened, no matter what the persuasion.
