I joined air points last Friday and and gold today.

I received an email this morning that my Touch of Gold has been extended.

Kia ora, Earlier this year we welcomed you to experience a Touch of Gold, giving you the chance to see what it’s like to be an Airpoints Gold Member. Since the start of the Touch of Gold promotion there have been a number of travel interruptions caused by Covid-19, which have resulted in some changes to the trans-Tasman travel bubble. We’d like to acknowledge that this may have prevented you from earning the required Status Points to move to full Gold. I received an email this morning that my Touch of Gold has been extended.

Good news. For me, they never got back to my status match request (QF and VA Platinum that didn't get matched) despite multiple attempts at contact.

Although with the Sydney lock down not ending for the foreseeable future, I suspect I'll be losing VA and QF status in the next year too, so it's a moot point.

Points were earned on a "green" flight from Melbourne during the last lockdown, so not all gloom and doom though not sure about my Qantas satus.

Does anyone have their status gold saying valid till May 2022? Mine says that so I'm not sure if it's true or not. But definitely not complaining if it is.

I haven't earned a single Airpoint or even flown Air NZ but mine says the same.

Im also not complaining and im not questioning it either.

If you earned the 100 status credits then the new expiry date is August 2022.

If you have not yet earned the status credits then it will show May 2022 however this date is based on you potentially earning the 100 status credits. If you don't get the 100 status credits by December then they will end your gold status.

That's correct, MEL-AKL-WLG, but not what I would have liked.

Quick question - for any of you that met the 100 SP and got upgraded to full gold already, did you guys get the full Gold pack mailed out to you with the card/bag tags, etc? Will these be mailed out to us if we qualify for full Gold? I don't think the T&Cs didn't mention anything about this...

Yes, I got the full normal gold pack. This included the gold card, 2x bag tags and the meaningless hotels/car rental upgrade voucher.

For reference with the dates.
I applied for the touch of gold around the 10th of May.
On the 12th of May I was accepted and told I had to earn 100 SP in the next 4 months.
I hit 100SP around 16 July, it was then on the 6th of August they informed me to say they were giving a whole year with full gold starting from that date. Normally they'd wait until the full 4 months is up before giving full gold but they did it as a once off due to covid.
My Gold Card arrived in the post in Australia on the 30th of August.

Hmmm - with AKL (mostly our hard strict border) probably going to be in lockdown for quite a while... I don't know whether AKL will be able to travel freely domestically before early Dec. I wonder whether Air NZ will extend out the qualification date one last time... maybe even just for the AKL based customers...? I'm so close to reaching 100 and I had so many trips cancelled due to restrictions.. so over COVID!

I'm sure it'll be extended again but it'll happen much closer to the time. There are a few more pressing issues for Air NZ right now. They're operating less services now then they were in June last year.

In addition the domestic fare flexibility (which allow free changes and opt in for credits) is due to end on 31 October (20 days time) and I don't think domestic travel or even the alert levels will change in the next 20 days to allow Auckland to travel to the rest of New Zealand.
