Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has had any recent (past 1 year) experience with Air Pacific and their 737's?
Tried looking for some recent AP 737 trip reports but couldn't find any.

I am thinking of booking a trip MEL-NAN on QF codeshare in a couple of months time.

Are the 737's fairly new, does anyone have any cabin pictures (I could only find the old 747's)?

Can QFF Gold members use Business class checkin and the lounge when flying on QF flight number?

Sorry for all the questions but all the info on the FJ website is a bit sparse so wanted to get some first hand real info from AFF'ers :)

Thanks!!

Haven't been on their 737, however was recently on their 747 and is looking very tired. Also was on their 767 ( I think) and that was no better. They do have a few new aircraft joining the fleet but that is later in 2013.

I migrated from Fiji in 1989, looks like the are still the same aircraft I came on!!

Qf SG can use tambua club but not QP members I believe...not sure on this.

Out of Melbourne you need to be aware of the QP hours, they dont exactly stay open late for the late FJ flight!

Their jumbos joined the fleet in 2004 and are ex AN (and SQ). The 767 is no longer flying, while two 738s are 1999 and a third joined in 2011

Damn! Looks like the lounge is still closing at 5:30pm these days :(
Will just arrive at the airport closer to departure time so I don't have to wait around the terminal for hours.

Air Pacific have three 737-800s. Two of them are are 13 years old and showing their age. If you are lucky you'll get the 2 year old (although second hand from Air Berlin) 737-800. There is also a 737-700 that occasionally is used for Australian flights, it is 14 years.

Having flown the Ex Air Berlin in J I seriously wouldnt bother. Stick with economy as the seats dont even have foot rests. OR wait for the A330s which do look very good

Flew the 737-700 in J last November. Essentially the same as a 738 (the non-updated to the BSI interior / red leather ones) for QF.

I thought they were perfectly acceptable for a daytime hop from BNE to NAN.

Thanks all so far for your suggestions.

Has anyone done a One way to NAN in Y on ticket booked from AUS, and then a seperate ticket booked in J from NAN back to Aus to avail of the $FJ rate?
If so were there any problems?

We have used separate award bookings with outward leg YASA booked on QF flight number for F lounge access SYD - NAN, and return on JASA NAN - SYD booked via Fiji.

The only problem came when on one trip I had to cancel and there was a long wait for points and cash to refund from the Fiji side. I was lucky and had a great lady on the QF Platinum desk who kept another booking open for me and watched and waited for the points to come through.

Generally though there hasn't been any issue.

I flew Y in their newer 738 Bne Nan return. For a shortish flight, pitch was ok, no seatback IFE but the interior looked fresh. Strangely, I thought the aisle seats in Y were slightly wider than the regular seat. Perhaps it was the different trim that made it appear so. Also, I tend to book the return leg (Nan to Bne) separately, often in J if I can score a JASA as the return flight is slightly longer (albeit only an hour or so). You're paying in FJD too and bear in mind the terminal area in Nadi leaves a lot to be desired, especially if multiple flights are departing in a short time frame.

I use separate one way bookings each time I go. I often book one airline each way as that is often better also.

Can I do seat selection if booking via Qantas?

Does QFF status help at all with seating?

Flights now booked in J, on the 737-800.
Been allocated 1E & 1F, also have the choice of 1A & 1B or 2E & 2F, which seats can you recommend as being the best in J?

Just wondering about lounge access in MEL, my flight leaves at 11pm, considering QF Intl J lounge closes at 5:30pm are there any other lounges that we can access in MEL Intl based on the fact we're flying J, Air New Zealand lounge?

There have been reports that an invite to the NZ lounge is offered for J passengers.

Interesting, I didn't know the J lounge had new operating hours until reading this thread and looking at QF homepage.

The good news is that the F Lounge is open, and also the CX lounge although CX have no formal partnership with FJ AFAIK, but you may be travelling on a OW marketed flight, so would theoretically have access.

It is also possible that they have a contract with the NZ lounge for J pax ex-MEL on the later departures.

The F lounge is not open, and no OW access as it must be an onward OW marketed and operated flight.
