Thanks, my thought exactly.Head to somewhere like Thailand for a month?
So it seems that some places are already not willing to take the risk of people returning from overseas stay with them.
Maybe I made the mistake of being honest an upfront with them, lesson learnt.

I heard some type of football person speaking this morning about how bad it all was and that he wanted the tax payer to bail them out. Yeah right. Hopefully the taxpayer rorts have stopped now.
Depends how you read it, which is why I said I will settle for a tent in the bush if worse comes to worse. This is about safety not your convenience and so yes you should definitly be honest. I don’t want to think about people who are returning from overseas and endangering other people. Which is what you seem to be suggesting.

So if I book a flight out leaving the same day as I arrive, I should be able to go through the international transfer section, thus not physically entering Australia, hand luggage only.
Thoughts please folks.
I am already overseas somewhere and leaving tonight to Melbourne.I don't understand why you would do this. Why come to Australia at all? Stay where you are, or go somewhere else direct.
Well not really. Connecting flights from international terminals have to fly after arrival.
Has anyone had difficulties with transit at airports? Will other countries follow the 14 day self isolation and implement that for anyone landing at the airport?
Is the Australian self isolation required for any one, or are Aus transit exempt.
In NZ I dont think you can fly to the pacific countries at all from transit.Strict exit measures are being imposed to protect the Pacific, barring anyone who has been overseas from travelling to South Pacific islands for two weeks, and barring anyone who has had symptoms or been in contact with anyone with Covid-19 from travelling there.
What happens if you fly international into Syd and then have a flight to another domestic location?
Latest guidelines allow domestic transits
Agree which is why I asked as soon as the ban came in. But in reality what else can we do?I was just chatting to someone who had a family member return home to Australia today, he was let straight onto his connecting domestic flight in Sydney. It's hardly isolation if domestic flights have foreign visitors on them.
There will be a tipping point. Just as there was with swine flu. The restriction is to delay that point as long as possible to manage limited resources. That's what happened with swine flu. They stopped testing for it eventually.I'm wondering how long the 14 days will be sustainable. Surely there must be better ways of profiling pax to minimise the risk of infection. If business find that webinars and video meetings work, they might get to like it after the fuss is over and not go back to travelling. On the other hand my work entails viviting buildings all over Australia, so that won't work for me. Can't wait to get back to travelling to OZ. At home in NZ two weeks and getting stir crazy already.

Yes, I'm a travel junkie.

I wonder what the visitors that arrived this morning are going to do, or where are they going to stay as from my experience some places are loathe to do the 14 day self confinement thing. It's risk reduction not risk elimination. If it were closer to the latter, anyone arriving on a flight would be moved to quarantine.
I guess what are people expected to do instead? Rent a car to drive the xx hrs home or wait for the next train or bus service, which comes with risks as well.
I haven’t got anywhere to stay for the 14 days.Yes I know. But why do that if you're just going to get straight back on a flight to somewhere else?
