All International Arrivals into Australia to self isolate for 14 days

I do not understand this self-isolate thing.Am arriving from overseas to Sydney - then have domestic connection to to Adelaide, then have bus tour booked to Alice Springs. Where will I have to "self isolate?"

I understand you can not go on that tour unless it's to get home, in which case you'd likely refer to it as a bus. And you won't be able to do either if you show symptoms on arrival into Australia.

Welcome to AFF @peacenit . As pushka said, the tour should be out; go home if its in Australia or hole up in Adelaide.

I'm in AKL... I am booked to SYD and the one night later SYD/SIN/LHR/ZRH.
Do I self isolate in SYD for one night or 14 nights?
Change plans? Do I? Can I? Should I?
Confused

I am still uncertain. Will I be detained in Sydney or Adelaide? Two weeks of isolation is cruel but understanable. I cannot get through to Greyhound.

There is a noncompliance fee of $13k if you were thinking of flying below the radar.
More than the $$ you would attract little sympathy from the populace if you choose to transgress

Others might know more but I would suggest you would have to self isolate in SYD.
Any chance you could turn the SIN flight into a transit rather than stop over?

Just to clarify some terminology:

If you are not infected you need to go into quarantine for 14 days.

If you are infected, or may have been in contact with someone who is, then you need to self isolate. I.e. people entering AU after last night.

Edit: tried to fix confusion!

Ok, now I'm confused. The terminology quarantine sounds more significant than self isolate?

Self isolate is more serious, because it means you are, or are likely to be, infected. Quarantine is more about wait and see protect yourself from others.

People were quarantined on Christmas Island to make sure they were clear, but those who have been tested recently have been advised to self isolate.

People entering Australia also need to self isolate, the official guidelines state:
All people who arrive in Australia from midnight 15 March 2020, or think may they have been in close contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus, are required to self-isolate for 14 days

Is the "tour" a tour or just a "package", the first leg of which include regular (greyhound) bus transport to Alice Springs. If the latter, you could try and reroute your flight to Alice Springs instead of Adelaide and undertake 14 days self isolation there. Otherwise you will need to self isolate for 14 days in Adelaide (or Sydney after arriving).

I don't think that had clarified things, sorry. ALL ( or almost all) arrivals into Australia must now "self isolate", whether or not they are infected or think they have been in close contact with an infected person.

On arrival yesterday, we got a flyer all about self isolation, not quarantine. The effect is to 'quarrantine yourself off" from society, sure, but I'm using the government terminology.
