ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

First time in one of these refurbished A330s in business today BNE-HKG. I don't understand the hype. Seat narrow and uncomfortable to sit upright and when flat no room for legs/feet to move and panicked a couple of times thinking I'd get stuck.

Give me Skybed anytime.

Only you, JohnK, only you ;) :).

Actually no - I agree - it is rather narrow.

Those broad of girth (solid, not obese) can find issues.

I have the same problem with BA Club World (aside from BA's being rather 'flimsy').

I also agree with JohnK on this occasion. I dont believe the new suites are as comfortable or as wide as the Skybed.
If SeatGuru is correct both business seats have a width of 21.5".

Meant more around the foot well area where it most definitely did not feel like 21.5 inches. Last time I flew one from Singapore to Melbourne I felt a tad cramped in the suite and leg area.

Thinking about it now, I can see the foot well area being quite tight for quite a few people. It's not an issue for my height and width but I'm below average in terms of build.

I'm a big bloke, up and across, and much prefer the suites to the Skybed (I, or II). Being able to fit my shoulders into the upper part of the lay-flat zone is more important to me than being a little tight down in the footwell. I struggle to get my shoulders into that grey Kinder Surprise bedhead!

Cheers,
Matt.

They do however have privacy and storage, which make them far, far, far superior, in my view.

Hi John I fully agree re the privacy and storage personally I just find the feet in a box set up not comfortable for me, doesn't matter if it be on Qantas Cathy or Emirates.

Surprised to read the posts of some of our 'fuller' friends at AFF not quite fitting. I'm 6f1, gym build and no issues obviously and I've taken several of my larger built sporty clients (AFL/NRL players for example) and they've all enjoyed the new suites with no complaints of size.
Happy to write up an AFF food plan and exercise regime for the team here affected ;)

Am still yet to try, although will in the next month after an AY 350 HEL-HKG-BNE, which will be a good comparison,
but can't be as narrow as the original CX coffins.

This is the intrinsic problem with products offering direct aisle access for everyone in business class. In order to maintain an acceptable density when going 2x2x2 to 1x2x1, there will always be some level of compromise.

Solstys staggered seats essentially arrange people 8 across, meaning reduced overall width. Vantage XL tapers towards the foot end, in order to have wider area for the upper half of a persons body, and a smaller space for the feet. Even many deployments of Cirrus/Super Diamond reverse herringbone have reduced width and a foot area that is a triangle.

Having sat in both the CX and QF seats and not being particularly large or tall, I've found the compromise to be acceptable. My expectation is that the "perfect" long and wide airplane seat will be one in first class and not business.

The perfect solution is a separate seat and bed - as in the apartments on EY A380s.
