ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

In my humble opinion, I think a lot of the subs at the moment probably have to do with the different configurations -

the non-reconfigured A333s have 30J 267Y, while
the reconfigured A333s have 28J 269Y.

If a flight is sold out (or oversold) in J, rather than having to downgrade 2x J pax, they would just sub a non-reconfigured bird to cover the extra 2x J seats.

Of course, this will happen less as more birds are reconfigured.

I have a daytime flight SYD - PER twice over the next few months. One is showing the old config, one the new. How disappointed should I be about the old config? Is it a nice recliner suitable for a few drinks and watching a movie or is it worse than that?

perfectly fine for that.. you might even get a workbench
(I am one who actually prefers the ex-JQ aircraft due to seatback IFE for gate to gate)

Do you actually think they have spare A330's sitting around for this eventuality!
Not so much needing a spare, but in my situation the swap was planned the day before while aircraft were in Oz ... the scheduled equipment for MEL-SIN & MEL-HKG were swapped ... affecting my HKG-MEL (& other's SIN-MEL).

Sorry : I should have said I'll be flying Business Class.

Honolulu always last because it's a good earner and it's been a price gouge route for QF in the past.

Has there been anything stated by QANTAS on what aircraft will be used on the new Brisbane - Narita route starting from August? Would it be safe to say this route will be predominantly the refurb planes on a consistent basis? I would imagine in particular the overnight return flight NRT-BNE would benefit greatly from the fully flat skybed.

I don't think that it would be safe to say that at all! Sure it would benefit as would every route including domestic where most of the 738's are still needing refurb and personal IFE. As time goes by all the planes will be refurbished so, you know, be patient! (lol)

Ah well just have to cross fingers and toes like everyone else.

Almost all the Asia returns are overnight flights.. Despite now having 4 birds refurbed not every flight to the premium SIN is getting the refurbs (although getting them more than not), so I think until all done it will still be a little luck of the draw.

Slightly OT, but HKG is the most inconsistent for me.
I have flown 6 sectors in the last 12 months.
2 x MkII Skybed (744)
2 x Mk I Skybed (744 & A333)
1 x F Suite (A380)
1 x New J Suite (A333)
This does include departures from both MEL and SYD.

Anyone able to confirm if the 'limited-edition' Oroton cases are still dished out in J on overnight flights ex Asia or has it long returned to the basic PJ set and amenity kit? Thanks in advance.

Can confirm the 'limited edition' Oroton kits are still being dished out. Was on QF52 SIN-BNE on Tue and this was waiting for me:

Meanwhile, first time in the new refurbished A333 J. Absolutely loved it.

I was in 2A and Mrs Chooms was in 2E. Didn't mind the consoles of both seats being between us, we still could talk across the aisle when required. Being a red-eye flight, we actually preferred the extra cover from foot traffic.

You could notice the difference in space in front of the seat (noted Row 2 of old J on A333 had three windows, Row 2 of new J has two windows) but it provided easier access to the fantastic new screen and AVOD... didn't have to touch the controller once! Speaking of, the controller being tucked away under a cover is a good improvement on the Skybed... noticed I kept bumping the old controllers a lot.

Footwell: I was a little concerned about the limited space, but my fears were not warranted when I finally settled into bed mode. Could move from sleeping on back to side with ease with my size 11 feet.

I could move between the seat and the aisle with ease even with the console being in the location that it is.

Too late now, but I would like to suggest they should start at Row 1 with the console on the aisle side rather than the window (rather than the even number seats). This would have shielded pax in 1A, 1E and 1K from galley light during the red-eye flights and not made much of a difference to other seats.

Food was ordinary, but sleep was achieved. All in all, best improvement to hard product on QF I have seen since new F was introduced on the A380.

Has anyone scored a refurbished 330 on QF51 - BNE SIN?? I'm going to Bali and loathe Jetsar so much I'm thinking of going via Sin to avoid them.

Hi guys

Does everyone know if the qstreaming to BYO devices has been turned on on the two ex-JQ A330-200 birds - EBC and EBD? I'm have the (unfortunate) displeasure of flying on one tomorrow evening and want to know if I should prepare my own entertainment ahead of time.

The last time I flew on them they seemed to only have it for J and not the main cabin.

Thanks in advance for any information.
