Anyone able to confirm if the 'limited-edition' Oroton cases are still dished out in J on overnight flights ex Asia or has it long returned to the basic PJ set and amenity kit? Thanks in advance.

This is a long time in frequent flyer terms.... but for what it's worth, I got given one about 4 weeks ago on QF82 SIN-SYD. SWMBO likes it. I rarely open the amenity kits.

Cheers,
Matt.

I have the same issues with the IFE ipads, one Perth - Melb - Syd leg went through 6 iPads before I gave up

Hi, my flight QF773 (Melb to Perth) mid July has been changed to the new configuration - great news. The downside is that the previous seats of myself + Mrs Insync are no longer sitting together. Not a lot of choice between available seats - 6E & 6F - but from what I read isn't really great for chatting to each other. The recommendations seems to point to an isle and window - but with the available seats and the offset configuration what I'm confused what is better 5A & 5E or 5A & 6E.

thanks.

I am waiting for my first flight in the new configuration, which will also be PER-MEL.
However FWIW the seat plans in either seat guru or expert flyer are more useful than the QF ones.

EBB has returned to service, the 5th A332 to be completed. The next three to be done are likely to be JQ EBE, EBF and EBK.

There are no A333 being done at the moment. QPI will go in next week, then be painted afterwards.

VH-EBB operated QF597 BNE/PER this arvo.

Normal Jack Spade one QF81 SYD-SIN last Monday. Notable last minute sub from new J to old J... understandable as not a spare seat left in either J or Y.

I'm on QF52 SIN-BNE tomorrow so will let you know about amenity kit. At this stage new J is holding....

Thanks. It was only a reported benefit on the overnight ex-Asia flights. SWMBO was keen on one and we missed out with an old config and not heard much of them of late.

Good to hear they are still being issued dairyfloss.

On QF6 also a month ago (returning from the AFF lounge run) got new J and the Oroton kit. Should be standard on the international routes, pencil case would be fine TT and DOM.

Tough gig with the domestic 332 ...

Odd F and even K "behind" 'pairs' may be best (1K 2F, 3K 4F & 5K 6F).

No luck there for you though.

It's very refreshing when an airline - or any service industry provider - is proactive about recognising its failure to deliver.

I was on a BMI mid haul flight London to Ankara a few years back in J and the IFE wouldn't work. Compensation was a 200GPB ($300AUD at the time) spend from duty free. Got a nice wallet that I still use to this day. Down the back they got 50GPB.

Hmm. 5000 points isn't too impressive though. That's about $50. Irrespective of whether you were traveling on points (you earned them after all) the airfare is worth about $5,000, let's say $2,500 one way so that's a 2% discount on the ticket.

Yes; as I said not overly generous but at least they did make contact without me making a complaint.

OTOH, if it had been a daytime flight and I had to sit there for hours without the IFE, I would be very disappointed with the 5k.

understandable as not a spare seat left in either J or Y.
On the A333, the new and old have exactly the same capacity. The new config has 2 less J seats, but 2 extra Y seats, so a couple of pax probably got op-uped when you get swapped to the old config.

VH-QPJ back in service, replaced by QPI.VH-EBA also in hanger, but has already been refurbed.

so:
VH-QPI A330-300 - In 7/7

YSSY Board also suggest QPF to SIN mid-July for paint, and current JQ EBK to BNE in late-July for refurb, then paint

Qantas A330-200 skybed availability.

We have return economy flights booked Perth to Melbourne in a week or so and I am considering upgrading to business class, subject to skybeds being available.
Is there any way of determining if a skybed fitted A330-200 will be operating on a particular flight? Perhaps by knowing the registration of the aircraft used on a particular day or route?

QPF reportedly scheduled to go to SIN on 13-Jul for repaint according to YSSY post

Given QPI is also 12+ months younger than prior -300s refurbed (ie. QPA-QPD) it will be interesting to see whether its conversion is quicker (ie. closer to one month) as they may defer the C8 check until it is needed.

Also of note is that VA is now reporting it will refurb its J cabin within 12 weeks for all 6 330s.

While bound to happen when a surface or air transport operator has only part of a passenger fleet refurbished, today the normally very well patronised QF19 from SYD to MNL has refurbished VH-QPD while patrons on QF35 from MEL to SIN have to put up with unrefurbished VH-QPJ.

Interesting that the SYD - BKK route has yet to enjoy a refurbished QF A333 despite it being a longer flight than SYD - CGK, SIN or MNL or MEL or BNE - SIN among others.

SYD-BKK for the large part is deemed more of a leisure route for QF and as such it is the last on the list for many things (A332/333 refurbs, J lounges etc.)

Fair enough. My assumption.
