American Airlines Delays/ Cancellations

On Tuesday 20 June 2023, AA72, the midmorning 0920 hours SYD-LAX did not become airborne until 1144 hours. B773ER N731AN should arrive at about 0741 hours, 84 minutes late. In true USA style, this flight is timetabled to arrive at LAX at 0617. Many other nations seem to restrict timings to five-minute blocks: not the good ol' USA.

Yesterday, AA2 (LAX-JFK) departed 3 hours late at 11am, then diverted to PHL due to weather, before arriving in NYC ~4 hours late. Other flights to JFK were also delayed between 2-4 hours.

Hopefully it isn't delayed today (and I board as planned in 45 mins)

Sunday night 8 September 2024's AA73, the 2305 hours redeye, did not become airborne until 1300 hours on Monday 9 with B773ER N718AN. SYD arrival tonight is estimated as 2002 hours, 777 minutes late (no joke).

This is delaying AA72, the 0915 hours Tuesday 10's SYD-LAX until what FR24 states is the unusual time of 2156 hours tonight as pushback, 761 minutes late.

On Tuesday 10 September, AA72 ended up taking off from SYD at 2156 hours with LAX arrival forecast as 726 minutes late at 1806 hours.

Wednesday 11's AA72 is not expected to depart until approximately 1300 hours as B773ER N729AN probably has to wait for crew from yesterday's delayed flight to have sufficient rest hours in Sydney.
