Re: AMEX Explorer referral

Hi All

Ok so I’m late to the party with this one but I’ve just activated my Explorer card and thought I’d throw my hat belatedly into the ring for a referral or two.

Sign up using a referral link, and you'll earn 110,000 points (as a referrer, I'll earn 20,000 points for each referral made).

My referral link can be found HERE

Details are: Receive 110,000 Membership Rewards® Bonus Points when you apply online by 30 January 2017, are approved and spend $1,500 on your Card within the first 3 months of Card Membership. Card comes with a $395 annual fee.
Other highlights:

- $400 travel credit for American Express Travel (book flights, car hire and hotels online - I've found AMEX competitive when compared to other major online travel booking engines) - (offsets the $395 annual fee)
- A whole bunch of insurances are provided, including Smartphone Screen Insurance when you pay for your phone / contract with AMEX (for up to $500 repairs).
- 2 x invites to the AMEX Sydney International lounge are also on offer.

A couple of months ago I got the QF Ultimate Amex card and love it but I have to say this one looks even better. I’ll be looking to cancel the Ultimate Card and keep this one most likely as the flexibility to transfer to multiple airline FF programs is very appealing and the earn rate is also very good.

As many would know Mrs NoName and I ate our way through various parts of the US last year on flights which were completely points-funded. I’m looking to go back some time in 2018 with the goal of returning in SQ Suites Class (don’t tell Mrs NoName!). If you enjoyed my trip report last time and would like to see more gluttonous displays in the future then a sign-up through my link would be very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance for helping me return to the United States Of Eating and another dose of excess food consumption!

It seems referral links above are working again. Must have been a temporary glitch as this one, my ultimate Amex and MrsNoNames ultimate Amex are all working again.

It may help. Using a referral link may also assist.

If I made a different username for my Explorer to make it separate from my platinum would I just ask to link the ascent to the gateway.or would I be better off linking them then delinking the programs and once I have the points linking them up again.

Only about a week left! Get on the 110K MR points before the deal runs out (I get 20K points too for your generosity). Personally I am going to hook this up with an affiliate Platinum Edge card in the near future to make use of both the Gateway and Ascent programs and gain the better airline transfer rates. I recommend people do the same! That or enjoy free business class flights return to Asia somewhere plus use your $400 travel credit on hotels for a very comfortable stay.

Other benefits include AMEX Connect which offers the occasional deal on shopping/restaurants/gift cards - most recently spend $100 get $20 back on Westfield cards and $30 cashback on Coles Myer cards (use them for petrol). Also I got an introductory spend $30 get $10 back at Woolworths which you might be able to use on a WISH gift card (33% off).

Hi all, throwing my link into the ring in the rundown to the offer ending.

This excellent offer is for 110k bonus Membership Rewards Gateway points upon signing up by 30th Jan 2017 (note it's not 31st!) and spending $1,500 in the first two months of card ownership (as long as you haven't held a Gateway account in the previous 18 months you should receive the bonus). If you choose my link to sign up with, I will receive 20k points and you will receive 10k extra (110k) over the publicly available 100k bonus point offer. One of the best point earners offered direct from Amex in recent times with flexible redemption options. Another key point is the interchange rate restrictions coming soon will not affect Amex cards so their earn rates are far more likely to remain high compared to the bank-issued Amex cards.

Here is my link (tested and confirmed to be working just now): http://amex.com.au/refer/7kraa

Thanks to anyone who chooses my link!

Only one week to go! So I guess I should throw my hat in the ring:

First, the AFF obligations - you are applying for the American Express Explorer Credit Card through my referral link:
  • What do you get? 110k Gateway Membership Rewards points once you spend $1500 on the card within 2 months of approval. Note that this is 10k points more than if you had applied for the same card through the standard Amex channel (cf. a referral link)
  • What do I get when you apply through my link? 20k Gateway Membership Rewards points
Plus, you also get $400 annual travel credit (spend through Amex Travel) and 2 passes to the Sydney Airport T1 American Express Lounge each year. The annual fee is $395 (i.e. completely offset by the travel credit).

What can you do with 110k Gateway points?
110k Gateway points converts to 82,500 airline miles in all of the programmes associated with Gateway (except NZ Airpoints). Here's a couple of ideas:
  • One way SQ First (or Suites) Class between Australia (SYD, MEL) and Tokyo (via Singapore) (using the KrisFlyer programme)
  • Return oneworld Business Class between Australia and most of Asia (using the Asia Miles programme) - I think this is a pretty cool immediate use, and includes up to two en route stopovers
(plus fuel surcharges and taxes)

Why use your link?

I selected my link in this forum by examining who hadn't had a link successfully used yet. So if you're like me and trying to find someone who hasn't got a referral yet, then - at least until I post otherwise - look no further.

Apart from that, you might like to read my post on understanding the Asia Miles award tables: [post]1573181[/post]

Another useful post of mine is how to search for oneworld availability using BA, AA and JL (it's slightly outdated, but the interfaces are substantially the same): http://www.australianfrequentflyer....search-oneworld-award-availability-59412.html

Here's my link  http://amex.com.au/refer/daniet3JYV - thanks in advance to all who apply through it!

For most people, a response to your application (positive or otherwise) should be within a minute after submitting your application.

If I made a different username for my Explorer to make it separate from my platinum would I just ask to link the ascent to the gateway.or would I be better off linking them then delinking the programs and once I have the points linking them up again.

I actually just tried to call up to link my accounts together and was told it's not possible due to the different reward schemes. Guess I need to try again at a later stage at night when I get a different call centre.

Plugging my referral link: http://amex.com.au/refer/williwdqsF
Disclosure: Sign up using a referral link, and you'll earn 110,000 points (as a referrer, I'll earn 20,000 points for each referral made). The card has a fee of $395, but you are also entitled to $400 travel credit. Current expiration of the referral promotion is 31 January 2017.

  • I would be very grateful if anyone uses my referral link, I've just made my first redemption getting my girlfriend and I to Europe - where I will be proposing (luckily she doesn't read these forums);
  • If anyone would like to help fund our honey moon in the near future it would be very much appreciated!

One week left, so please consider my link along with the many other ones on here :)

I promise to finish my SQ Suites Trip Report once the new laptop arrives and will invest the 20,000 points towards creating another SQ trip report ;)

Posting my referral link. When I placed my application (and got approved) I picked a recent post that appeared not to have been used yet.

So in the same spirit, I'm hoping someone will use my link too :) [look at all those "m's" !!]

You will get a total of 110k (extra 10k bonus) and I will get a 20k referral bonus.

remember to register for americanexpress network connect in order to get statement credit offers and that supplementary cards get their own unique number.

Big thanks to AFF for the good info.

Only 1 week left to get the bonus points!

By using my referral link, you will get 110,000 bonus points if you spend $1500 in the first 2 months of card membership (I will get 20,000 points for the referral):
http://amex.com.au/refer/janewO2Ab

One excellent use of the bonus points is to transfer them 2:1 to SPG, which gives you 5-6 free nights at the Sydney or Melbourne Sheraton and Westin hotels and lots of others worldwide.

Hi friends!

I received and activated my card today. I applied using a link from this thread, so I'm hoping I can also get a referral in return.

Last call!!! five more days before the bonus points promotion end. Finger crossed that the bolt has not been shut for the linking to the ascent method. Here is my link if anyone is interested.

Maybe you could edit this post to meet the rules before it is deleted LG...... ;)

Just received and activated my card today. I did identify myself as an existing Edge cardholder, and when I activated my Explorer, the Gateway program was consolidated into my Ascent account. A quick call to the Manila call centre and my accounts are now in the process of being de-linked. I'll be re-linking the accounts again after I spend the $1,500 and the points post, but from what I've read on the forums, it might be better to call after hours to get to the American call centre. This will then result in an addition of 110k points to my Ascent account, and the ability to earn 2 Ascent points per dollar spent on most transactions.

Also thought I'd throw my hat in the ring and see if anyone would be kind enough to use my referral link. I'll be using the points for a well-deserved babymoon as we're expecting Baby #1 in June.

http://amex.com.au/refer/wekicPlN7?CPID=100199911

You get an extra 10,000 points (bringing the total to 110,000 points) and I'll get 20,000 points if you're approved.

As many others have said, this card pays for itself (and at least $5 more) with an annual fee of $395 but netting you a travel credit of $400 per year. You also get smartphone insurance (which for me means I don't need a case for my phone) and travel insurance. What's noteworthy is the car rental damage waiver is up to $100k (slightly lower than the Plat Charge of $125k) which means you're covered if you total a rental car up to that value.
