OMG this company is so frustrating to deal with! I rang this morning and they recognise there is currently an error with the BT screen on their website and have had several applications freeze. She puts me on hold for 5 minutes and then comes back and says I am not eligible for the BT offer as I have previously been a Amex customer (no active cards; last account closed 18 months ago) I say this is a completley different issue to their website not working and which problem is it? She assures me its because of my previous history. I ask to talk to a supervisor and I am told I can't, but I can have a call back within 48 hours. I don't think they wan't my business!

My 110k just hit today - I forget whose referral code I used, but enjoy the bonus points!

I just signed up for this card. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could use my link :) You receive 110,000 points & I receive 20,000.

I would be hugely appreciative if anyone wants to use my link. I haven't had anyone use it yet. I used someones link from earlier in this thread.

Apart from the great value this card offers - 110,000 points + $400 travel credit, two really good features of this card are:
1. Great rental car insurance (similar to the Platinum Charge card)
2. It looks great. It's almost Black. I have had a couple of people (who are not really interested in cards) ask me if I have an Amex Black card.

NOTE: Bonus points offer expires in 23 days!!!

i would love it!!

edit- caveat that I will benefit to the tune of 20,000 point. Much appreciated!

I've been reading through this thread and, if I remember rightly, you had only cancelled an Amex card in August? I'm presuming if you're looking for referrals you got the card. Did you get the bonus points? I'd love to apply for this but I cancelled an Amex in Feb 2016. Don't want to pay the fee, do the spend and then have them pull T&Cs and say I don't get the points ... :( Would appreciate hearing how you went.

If you don't have a direct Amex now and you have never had an Explorer you will more than likely get the bonus points. It is a new card earning Gateway MR points, pretty well a sure bet

Hi landl- that's correct: I got this card & the bonus points having only cancelled my Amex velocity in August. I made sure my Amex online user ID was different to my previous one- but used the same email & same everything else. Bonus point arrived when I was about half way through my minimum spend. Similar to you, I didn't want to risk the annual fee (although I guess it's offset-able) so we waited to see if mine was successful before applying for one for my husband this week. I think it's worth the gamble :-)

good luck!

From my own and others experiences reported here, you shouldn't have a problem getting the points.

I've very rarely seen reports of AMEX failing to pay out bonus points even when considering the clearly stated terms of offer.

Fingers crossed. I lodged it last night. No auto confirmation of acceptance but a let you know email. I'm well above the income threshold and had a reasonable monthly spend when I did have the Amex so here's hoping. If it goes through I'd like to try for the rewards Amex before the end of the month. Thanks to everyone for being so generous with help

Just signed up the card last week using someone link from this thread, thanks for that.

If you'd like to sign up with my link, it is

Hi all

I'm posting from the amazing Singapore Airlines Private Room (exclusive first class passengers lounge), where I've just flown on Singapore Airlines suites class from Sydney (and am booked through to Hong Kong, second flight leaving in a couple of hours). I'm enjoying lobster with three cheeses and a glass of Charles Heidsieck champagne. This trip only cost me 60,750 krisflyer miles for the two flight legs, plus taxes.

By signing on to the Explorer with a bonus 110,000 AMEX Gateway MR points, you'll have enough points to book this amazing, once in a lifetime trip too! You'll also get $400 travel credit, 2 x lounge entries and suite of insurances! If you're hesitating, and haven't yet signed up for this card, a reminder that the sign on bonus ends in just three weeks, so don't delay.

If you would like to consider using my referral link, it would be much appreciated (I'll earn 20,000 MR points if you sign up: https://www316.americanexpress.com/...&mgmerSource=mgmerHub&MGMURN=AAAFAAEMGg0XAg==

Always late to the party I know, but after using someone else's referral about 5 days ago I'm adding my referral link to the list. This is a great card and I thoroughly recommend it. I'm around40,000 points short of booking a flight to London. Appreciate any help to get me there:

By using my link you will get extra points. 110,000 in total. And I'll receive 20,000 points.

Just throwing my hat in the ring, I've had my card for a few months now and it's now my go to! It's definitely a bonus if you can get amex to link it to your existing Ascent rewards account (it took me a few calls to do though!)
