Re: Your Karma balance will reward you too. AMEX best offer IMO.

Does someone who hasn't been lucky enough to get a random referral want to post their link?

I'm happy to use it - don't really feel like randomly picking from the thread and would rather it go to someone who hasn't gotten a nice surprise yet.

i would love it!!

A reminder that anyone posting a referral link must follow the guidelines specified in the sticky at the start of the referral sub-forum.

Specifically:

Update 31 March 2015: Just to be 100% clear. Both the Referrer and Referee must receive the benefit which needs to be clearly defined, transparent and stated in the post. Links to "affiliate-type" sites where the Referrer receives an incentive/bonus, and there is no clear benefit to the Referee for using that link is not acceptable.

Posts that do not have the required information will be deleted.

Re: Your Karma balance will reward you too. AMEX best offer IMO.

Just collected the 110,000 sign on points as an existing Platinum Edge and Gold Charge card holder, for anyone wondering if this still is possible.

As other have mentioned, once registered the Explorer Card points program was linked to my Ascent account. I called up to have unlinked (was unlinked within 20 minutes of the call), made the minimum spend and then the bonus points posted.

I was also able to have my card relinked after the points posted. I transferred all my points (just incase, but i don't think you need to) to SPG. I called up the number on the back of the card and asked for all my points to be pooled to my Gold Charge Card, was on hold for a little while, but all done no problem.

So 110,000 points (115,000 points using the supplementary card bonus I mentioned below) and now earning 2ppd!

Love this card!

My referral link for anyone interested

Just got my new Explorer card. Very excited about this card. Mainly for the 1SPG point per $ spent. But plenty of value to be had with 1.5 airline miles per $ (possibly even 2 airline miles per $ if your lucky!)

There is plenty of great info on getting the best out of this card on this thread and site. I am excited and hopeful about unlinking and linking my Gateway and Ascent program cards to hopefully get the 110,000 points as an existing cardholder and then get 2 airline points/miles per $1 spent after that. I am also excited about transferring to SPG then Marriott for their flights and stay offers, Alaskan Airline miles here we come.

I wanted to share a tip to anyone signing up for this card to derive even more value from the card. If you find this useful I'd very much appreciate you using my referral link:

It is possible to add yourself as a supplementary card holder, I just did this with Amex. When you add yourself as a supplementary card holder it is called an "Account Card" or "A/C" card. I have one of these on my Gold Charge card as well. I did this with my initials rather than full name to tell the cards apart.

Why would you do this?

1. When I called up to add myself as my first of 4 free supplementary card holder I asked if they were still offering the 5,000 bonus points for adding an additional card holder. The lady went off and checked and said yes that wasn't a problem. These points have already been added to my account and I haven't even used the card yet.
2. One of the best things about Amex at the moment is their Statement Credit offers. I have saved a couple of thousand dollars from the cashbacks this year. Shop small, Harvey Norman, HCF, David Jones, Langtons, Westfield and Myer to name a few. Never hurts to have as many Supplementary cards as possible especially in your own name especially when this card comes with 4 free supplementaries.
3. The reason behind an A/C card is you set up all your direct debits on this card and then keep it safe at home somewhere separate from your other card/wallet. Then if you lose your wallet you don't need to change over all of your direct debits.

There are some great tips on this site on how to get the most out of this card, make sure you subscribe to these threads:

Amex Statement Credits have saved me thousands this year.

For when your annual fee is approaching call and ask them "What have you done for me lately?" I got 84,000 points to keep my American Express Gold Charge Card. The annual fee is only $130!!

Hope everyone is able to get some value from the above. Any queries please let me know.

I have previously done this.It is a good tip in case anyone is not aware.

What I am more interested in though is: can you add yourself four times for four additional cards? ie. My Name A/c, My Name A/c 2, My Name A/c 3, My Name A/c 4

It would be great if you could do this to take advantage of the Amex offers.

I just signed up for this card. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could use my link :) You receive 110,000 points & I receive 20,000.

AMEX Explorer referral

Hoping to entice someone to use my referral link for this card and score some good karma for using another person's referral link from this thread recently:

http://amex.com.au/refer/angelb8DPY

100,000 AMEX rewards points normally available, but you will get an extra 10,000 points above what you would normally get applying without a referral link and I'll get 20,000 points for referring you.

The $400 travel credit is worth the $395 annual fee alone.

And from my own experience I can confirm that AMEX is not enforcing the 18 month exclusion period.

Doesn't seem like this card allows me to transfer points to QFF?

And another issue seems to be that the TI mandates that you must put the full cost of return flights originating in Australia to be covered. This means one can't book, say, MXP BNE MXP on QF/EK and save $8-$14K on two tickets since you would not be covered.

Pity!:(

Was it ever suggested you could transfer to Qantas?

Theres also no need to use the credits for flights. I plan to use my credits for hotel bookings.

The Amex Ultimate direct earns to QF - there are referrals here for 110k QFF points but I don't know if the TI is any different.

I believe the Platinum Charge $1,200 pa earning MR points can transfer to QF

DrR, No I wasn't saying you did.:)

It does seem that all the Amex issued cards have the same TI requirements so unfortunately they don't suit. Westpac cards are fine for me tho! :)
