American Express Platinum Charge Card enhancement - Virgin Lounge access

The breakfast spread in VA lounge is better than QP's, IMO.

Only spent 30mins at the DJ lounge in SYD today.

Spent a few hours in CBR DJ lounge today lol. Had nothing to do....

Supp charge cardholder was not allowed access to the Melbourne Lounge this week. The primary card holder(me) was OK. Luckily there was another way I could get my partner into the lounge, so we could both go in. The woman behind the desk flashed a card showing pictures of the cards that were accepted for entry. AMEX supp charge was not on it.

How did they know its a supp card? Also if you went in separately may work.

Was about to ask the exact same thing...

I don't understand - my wife's supplementary card looks identical to my primary card. She's had no problem getting into lounges with it.

I'm guessing a gold or green supp.

No it's a Plat Charge Supp and it does look different to my Primary card. My primary card has a black border and chip. The Supp has no border just a vertical line to the right and the wording Platinum. Does it say anywhere(ie AMEX or Virgin terms of entry) that Supp cards should be accepted?

Well I have the primary and supp charge cards in front of me and they look identical except the card number.

i find this confusing, doesn't the complimentary platinum reserve/edge only get issued to the primary card holder, with all true supp card holders issued either platinum/gold/green charge cards?

It seems that the many and varied Amex issued cards have different "Enhancements" so hence a lot of confusion ( also with the insurance benefit ).
Its fairly clear in the terms and conditions, but generally is seems that lounge access is for the Primary Card holder only and only for two entries per year !
In saying that it seems that Virgin are not yet applying the rules.
Our Cards, Business Platinum, have allowed entry on numerous occasions - both primary and supplementary (last entry two weeks ago in SYD by sup. holder alone )
- hope they keep it up - to me it is an important part of the annual fees !

We got our plat charge cards today (primary and supp) and both look identical

Ah I thought you were dumping Amex totally, not just downgrading

Supplementary cards are the same looking

Additional cards have a A/C on it, well at least the plat credit card does...
