Just made my first two hotel bookings on the weekend under the 10 Bonus point promo:

http://www.australianfrequentflyer..../10-bonus-point-per-1-a-24877.html#post368527

...and looking this afternoon each booking as also earnt the 250 Hopscotch Bonus.

I was not sure if this was classed as an Australian tx or not. So obviously it is.

With these posting I am almost up to 50tx. So will get to the 100tx well before I leave the country on Dec 18.

I'm at 30 txs so 70 to go before I roll them into Velocity for VA's 25% bonus promo. That'll help a bit now that V are flying, with Etihad, to Europe & England.

Only got signed up to this promo last week as it had to be done manually by calling Amex.

Nevertheless, 10/100 down. Need to make some donations to Movember next month, which will, strangely enough, all be done in multiples of $20 donations :P

Yes the good thing about Movember is that you can easily donate to a lot of different people for valid tx.

So if you were going to donate anyway is a good way to get tx.

Not for me this year though as I don't know anyone doing it this year, and the 250 points are worth about $10 each to me (ie based on cost of J return to Europe, bought in adavance = about 4 cents per point).

I'm sure you could find people on here:!: Movember 2010

Have got the Platinum Reserve Card with Qantas Direct...wonder if this would be eligible for the 250 points or for that matter the 10 points/$ at Hotelclub offer.

If a flight to the USA is $1000 or 95,000 points + $300 in taxes, 25000 bonii are worth about $200 for a spend of $2000. I won't be wasting my $2,000, or petrol for shopping, on Movember or anything else I don't need.

I think the promo is nice, but a flop nonetheless.

I won't be buying for the sake of buying either. But 100 tx is pretty easy to generate.

However with how I redeem points, 25000 points will have a retail value of at least $1000 for me (ie J on SQ or *A). We are each different though.

I am well on the way to generating 100 x $20 transactions quite nicely! :p

I value 25,000 points at about $2000, I redeem Qantas flights in J.

However, given the discount J fares that are around, the value is about $1000 at the moment, but as fares creep back up to normal levels it's back to $2000 roughly

I only value at what it could be bought at rather than highest price.

If I was buying tickets direct I would shop around. So I value FF points based on that as well.

I never pay full price for airfares, or hotel rooms. So IMO no point valuing FF points on an a high price....for at least my situation anyway.

It appears that there are no award 'saver' seats on SQ A380 business class. What a pity, given that only 90,000 points required for Syd-Singapore return trip, or approx 30,000 points more than economy seat redemption. In gift card terms, this 'upgrade' from economy to business is valued at approx $210. Not bad.

Good point - I guess I am thinking of where airfares will be back to in a few years time.....Maybe...who knows.....

Either way though, 25,000 points for not much of a change in my spending pattern is a nice boni offer

I guess I just like keeping my car topped up..... rather than letter the tank go empty etc etc....

Yes, I don't believe SQ make any award saver seats available on any of the new J class seats (A380 and 77W flights)..... pretty cough!

2 of the 4 daily Syd-Sin flights are on the 777-200, one of which is the newly retrofitted one (see below). You can only get J award savers on these 2 flights:shock::evil:

The new regional J product is actually pretty good. Still worth redeeming it on Saver.

I wonder how first class on MAS compares with business class on SIA (on 747 or 777)? First class seat on MAS for Syd-Kul can be redeemed for only 90,000 Enrich points return, which is equivalent to 120,000 Amex points.

Agree, but the lack of Sq J saver availablity on the 2 A380 flights makes it difficult for lots of connections beyond Sin.

Retrofitted 777-200, and good value

SQ232 SYD 12:40 SIN 17:45
SQ211 SIN 09:40 SYD 20:20

Old 777-200, and questionable value
SQ242 SYD 18:50 SIN 23:55
SQ241 SIN 07:00 SYD 17:40

Last week, my flight from SIN to SYD on SQ219 was still on non-refitted 772.
