Out of interest, has anyone with 7-figure balances and who have been refused doubling, tried moving out some of their points then asking again. It just occurs to me that there could be a policy/algorithm that incorporates the one-off cost of the doubling
Iwent from just under 7 figures to 0 and tried this morning for a double,

a big fat no

Almost all points gone. Just waiting for some small spend to post. Have left 5K there just so I can mop up anythings else that arrives in my account.

From memory Amex points on the weekend only post on Sat and not Sunday?

Not for me. I made one last ditch attempt call this morning and was specifically told that because my PC application was very recent, the offer could not be applied to my account - while noting my spend history/loyalty etc. etc.

(tbf not much spend history, only 2-3 years of serious spending)

Yes, whatever posts on Saturday should be the last of it.

Be interesting to see what $s this has cost Amex.
As I understand it they pay SQ, VA etc to issue points.

I ended up flipping points to SQ (had to create a new account as my old one had been expired)

I finally decided what to do, and sent my entire balance (was less than 70K) to Asia Miles. I'll continue with the card for a while, so I can top-up my SPG (don't like the name Marriott Bonvoy) to complete a 25K AAdvantage transfer in the future, then maybe add a few more at reduced rate to Asia Miles to reach enough for 2 x return to HKG awards, and then most likely cancel the card.

Hi, just an FYI we called tonight to transfer our 320K points to Krisflyer (Amex Explorer). In the call they said they were happy to transfer them, or if we leave them in there they will double whatever the balance is at 11:59pm 14th April, with the double points being applied 15th June.

Wasn't sure what to do as wasn't expecting any offer, however decided to keep them in there as it gives more options to transfer to other partner airlines in future instead of being locked to Krisflyer.

Anyway, anyone looking to do a last minute transfer maybe call instead of online - you may get a similar offer.

What sort of spend and history do you have?

Amex member for 18 months, around $7K per month spend - is that what you meant? (Sorry, new here!)
And only Amex explorer? No other cards?

Doesn't sound right...

Only Amex Explorer, there are 2 other cards linked to the one explorer account for 2 employees to use for petrol/materials ect.. but thats all included in the spend above (obviously some months higher some lower).

I was really surprised as well, after doing a lot of reading hadn't seen anything similar, and was waiting last minute to make sure no extra last monute transfer deals came out.

The service rep was lovely, she just asked the reason we were transferring andd if it was because of the point changes, we said yes, she said because we are a loyal customer (18 months?) They have an offer they can apply - really strange, but I'm not complaining. Only catch is the double points don't get added until 15th June, so if we wanted to use them in between 15th April - 15th June we would only have the original 329K in there transferring at 2:1. We dont plan on using them in the next few months so no problems there for us.

The 15th June is for everyone who has been offered doubling so that's normal.
Congrats that you got it. Did you get a ref# just in case

How on earth did you get this offer?!

Oh well, I am now in the mindset that the points are there for flying. I would not be taking any holiday in the next 3 years if I'm not forced to, so meah, I'm gonna redeem.

Yes got a ref #, and noted down the date and time in case they change their mind later lol

I actually have no idea. I know it seems strange and I'd probably be doubtful if someone else mentioned it as well - but we did and I'm not sure why/how :S

It’s very very buggy no doubt from increased traffic.

It was really slow today at about 3.00pm when I was emptying the account - all to SQ. Must be costing Amex a small fortune with all the transfers this week.
