So does that mean whoever prepaid for a year won’t be getting this lot of accidental points? I shall find out shortly as one of my monthly premium has just been deducted.

Got 5k extra bonus on two cards out of three in two consecutive months.
Now I'm tempted to pay another month and see if can score third bonus.

Just trying to work out when to cancel Thr policy.

Scratching my head. Do you do it from the date you got your first payment or the freebie or the day you signed the dotted line

I would have thought 6 months from the date of taking up the insurance policy. I plan on cancelling 6 months post that date myself.

yes, I better check it properly, dont want to get the bonus clawed back!

Any idea where i.e. what email, do I send the scanned, signed letter to cancel to?
I sent a letter last week to cancel my policy.

Received a call today following up on my cancellation.

They asked directly if I had taken up the offer to get the bonus points.

I said definitely. And I would never have taken out the policy without such an offer

They said that since it had been less than six months since I opened my account they would take back the bonus points.

I said good luck with that. Didn't tell them that I had cancelled my AMEX account last week :)

So for anyone thinking of cancelling be aware that they have shown intent to enforce the six month term of the agreement.

I hate these companies that offer a promo and when people take advantage of it they whinge and whine or change the deal

Eg Amex statement credits at hn

If you offer a special you should honour it.

If people cancel it after the promo that's just life

Quite. The whole point of these promotions is to generate business therefore they must factor in some 'breakage', so to speak, where some people do not remain customers, but plenty will.

How far inside 6 months were you?

It was quite clear in the T&C that bonus points would be reversed if cancelled within 6 months.

They haven't done anything wrong and should not be criticised. They always had a term which said if you didn't keep your policy for six months they could take back your bonus points. No one can complain that they are seeking to do this. It was extremely clear that this could happen.

Keep your policy for six months and there wont be a problem.

Five months paid. Next installment was due December 25.

I knew the moment I took out the policy that I would be cancelling all of my AMEX cards before the end of the six month period.

It certainly was. I guess some people may have thought that they wouldn't bother.

Nice. What is the email address to send the cancellation to?
