AMEX not accepted or surcharge

I think putting the $2.50 per day charge on Amex for City Rail would look a bit cough since we qualified for a Seniors Card in WA.
I go to the ticket window at Circular Quay just to buy the ticket because I am thinking this is unbelievable. They look at the card and then it is another all day of travel for such a skinny price on ferries and buses as well as Sydney trains.

I think there is a minimum spend on card purchases at ticket offices
However, there is no minimum spend at ticket machines

You can get 5% off at Masters using a Woolworths Wish Gift card that you can buy at Rac.com.au/wish I haven't found a way to get a Bunnings card on discount. RACWA did not take Amex when I tried on the weekend.

Were you trying RAC online or in store? Last time I could be bothered going in they were accepting Amex but only if you went in person. RAC seem to have a weird relationship with Amex where they will accept it, but only sometimes.

Masters is not at all convenient to me.

RACWA accepted Amex when I renewed my membership with them last year, but only over the phone. Via the website they don't accept Amex. Weird.

My dentist is going to start charging 4.4% for Amex and make a point that they will kindly absorb the VI/MC fees as "paid by us as a service to you"

Time for a new dentist perhaps

Seniors cards are good.My QLD one got discounts in the USA,Brazil and Japan on this last trip.

Was at MEL AP yesterday getting some last minute gifts and the Chocolate Box didn't accept Amex. I told the lady (in a jocular tone that was understood) that the company should be ashamed of itself not accepting Amex at an airport.

I think she's heard it before. :)

I am amazed at this - I am going to Melbourne Airport next month so I will go and have a winge as well. Is this the chocolate shop in the Domestic Terminal around Gloria Jeans?

The Plough Inn at South Bank (Brisbane) now has a 1.5% surcharge for all cards (and accepts AX & DC). Problem is that their food was already over-priced, so my choices are to either go there and pay the 1.5% surcharge on their food & drinks, or go to CBD (Cafe Bar and.... Dining?? - the bar on the ground floor of Rydges at South Bank). While their AX surcharge is 3.5%, Rydges PriorityGuest members get 20% off food and drinks (including those who have only joined for free online and have just a membership card that was printed from the site - without staying there)... as such, I can either pay 101.5% of the list prices at the Plough, or 83.5% of the list prices at CBD... guess where I visit more often now? To add to that, Greystone Bar and Fifth Element also accept AX with no surcharge (both within 1-2 mins walking distance) - nice one Plough!...

Good Guys (Geelong) Amex ok with no surcharge. Not sure if that's all good guys as I think they are franchised so it may be individual stores that decide acceptance.

For those not aware when Good Guys shopping, always ask "what can you do on price" as that single question saved us ~ $250 (on a tagged price of ~$1000). I wanted the points so didn't push for "less for cash".....

Grand Pacific Hotel in Lorne charges 5% surcharge for AMEX and diners. I wanted to take a photo to share as I could not believe my eyes.

That hotel knows how to charge at the best of times; this doesn't surprise me unfortunately.

Just Cuts Highpoint don't accept Amex. Converse outlet at Collingwood accepted Amex card.

Jeanswest online stopped accepting Amex. It's quite disappointing as its my favorite online clothing store to buy casual jeans and clothes occasionally.

It's a shame as I shop elsewhere now. I don't think you will lose that much revenue in accepting Amex in the retail clothes industry.
