Jeanswest online stopped accepting Amex. It's quite disappointing as its my favorite online clothing store to buy casual jeans and clothes occasionally.
It's a shame as I shop elsewhere now. I don't think you will lose that much revenue in accepting Amex in the retail clothes industry.
Just noticed this too, even though they say they take Amex & Diners on their FAQ page! I don't suppose you've tried using Amex in one of their stores recently? Curious if it's just a temporary/online-only thing
Saw this at one of my local high street shops:

Went to KFC (Kan't be Fa@#ed Cooking) Footscray yesterday and the eftpos would not take my Amex card. I thought KFC took Amex... Anyway used my MC.
That's interesting... That reminds me a lot of the campaign Amex runs in the US to encourage spending at small businesses. I think they make it a day like the big electronics sale etc
this might be off topic for this thread but doesnt amex charged local merchant's between 1.75%-3% or so up to as high as 6%(i think), also im not sure what you guys can get with c/$ value of points but i think amex should introduce a Cash back credit card like the US(for the low end market) where you get 1% cash back everywhere and 3 to 5% at bonus/selected shops within a certain time, that way they could charged small business maybe 3-5% and major department shops and supermarket a lower rate of 1% or so and i think if amex could give me 3 or maybe even 5% off at my local coffee shop i would choose to use Amex over VISA or Mastercard, also because they charge this merchant fee they could also have higher points on there airline rewards cards seeing not all people would use there points.

I have heard that it might be some days before the merchant is paid for the transaction.

We get the $ from Amex transactions the next day. Visa and MC are same day.
I would send them a note saying you will no longer be staying with them. If they don't know the loss of business is unlikely to impact their policy.Hi all,
I stayed at the Comfort Inn The Pier in George Town, Tasmania last week - and upon check out was informed that there was an AMEX surcharge. Automatically, I said "that's fine" - I am used to it, and my work reimburses me for my expenses anyway, so it never really bothers me too much. Never, ever, ever has it been 5% though !!! I was rendered speechless ! To me, that is just pure profiteering on behalf of the motel. As far as I am aware, I don't think that AMEX ever charge the merchant more than a maximum of 3% at the most ??? (Correct me if I am wrong).
Will be looking at an alternative place to stay in the future !
Cheers,
Brooke
