AMEX Platinum Edge Referral bonus

I did vaguely recall reading somewhere that the T&Cs said the max you can earn (as the referrer) is 50k or so

Referral for Plat in the UK has eased off a bit, it's still not too bad though. Although for a week or so it was only 4k!!

If anyone else needs a referral, send me a PM... ;)
Yeah sure, first time poster and we'd give you the benefit of the referral. There are a number of long term posters here (myself included) who can refer people and while it's only my opinion I would far rather give those points (money) to someone who has actually contributed a bit!

harsh! True though.

Yeah, should have thought about that earlier... For my defence.. It has a non-english origin...

@burmans: Thanks for the nice and warm welcome...It was a offer that was meant to be nice for both sides, nothing more, nothing less. I think everyone who is interested in a referral can make a independent decision who they want to be referred by...

Guess you can't blame a guy for trying :-)

I'd love to provide somebody with a referral too (wouldn't we all!), but I don't check the site frequently enough (either to catch requests, or to respond to PMs) :-P

The price increase is disappointing however I feel that the card still offers great value compared to other generic premium cards (i.e. if you do not compare it against specific branded cards that offer specific perks) at similar price range

But with annual fee of $195 it becomes a lot less attractive, especially that VA is constantly on sale for their seats. The only one who still see it with great value are Perth residents ....

I also noticed that the Affinity (eg AMA, CPA, CA, etc) Platinum Edge increased to $149 from $99 per year. Not sure if existing cardholders will keep their $99 annual fee.

I warned that Amex had told me this was about to happen. Existing cardholders stay at $145 p.a.

Lucky. In the UK, when the fee goes up, everyone pays it. Only 3 days now till I cancel my UK Plat Charge card.

Thanks for the info but I will wait for a few months, until my next annual fee due, to confirm this. Amex can always change their mind.

Thanks for suggesting this. I'll make sure I hang onto the correspondence. ;)

Well they need to disclose fees and charges changes so you would get a letter I think before then.
