AMEX - Shop Small November 2019

I can't see the post now either. MODS did some strange stuff. I have no idea why.

I have separate logins for each card. Basically kept logging in and 'forced' the offer to appear. Definitely not available originally.
It might be too late now... but how did you "force" the offer to appear?

I kept trying to refresh the offers but that didnt work. Only got 4 out of 25. Time to cancel the DJs amex

They started going down hill about 3 yrs ago.

Well I would contend that Amex was at its peak value well before 3 years ago, and well before Amex move to mainly cashback promos.. In the point promo days I was racking up several points runs per year in 100K+ - 500K range in year plus numerous small runs. Once even 2.9 Million.

Racking up a million Amex MR points per year was not too hard if one knew how to play the game, and that was not by just spending a lot of $.

Many may not remember that small shop was 10 times per card and there were other very generous cash back offers. AMEX has become just another card to churn. Get what ever you can out of it and then move on.

Well even ignoring points earnt by spending which is still highest on many spends, I currently earn more bonus points every 12 months by keeping my Amex's than I would by waiting 18 months for a sign-on bonus and so for some of us, even with the reduced transfer rate, it makes no sense to churn.

The offer was not on the majority of my 16 cards. I found that by refreshing the screen that the offer then appear. Sometimes after only few refreshes. Sometimes after about six times.

I had logged in and out a few times, but that did not seem to make any difference.

Anyone found a good Shop Small retailer map?
Anyone know if stacking a cashback offer + shop Small works? Or better to split payment if retailer allows

Example if the offer is spend $100 to get $20 back and I'm spending $130. Split up to get $30 back or no need

The shop small map currently appears to be in its usual state of brokenness. Only showing 3 merchants in all of Melbourne!

Shop small and cash back have stacked in the past, in your example I would use 1 card for $100 to get back $30 ($20 + $10) and another card for $30 to get back $10. Or if you have enough, use 6 cards for $20 each and get back $60.

Didn't end up splitting as were only $5 over the cashback threshold. Don't think will get the normal cashback and $10 shop Small stacked

Apparently Opal top-ups do not count for this year's Shop Small? They've been handy in the past, maybe that's why they've been dropped, and if Opal is out then p'haps same applies to Myki and Go?

How will they know what your purchased ?

This may have already been mentioned so apologies in advance. I went to a bar last night and spent over $20 in one transaction 3 x times. It only validated on the first occasion. I thought I had used all my 5 transactions but it worked again today.

Only once per merchant per registered card.

You don't seem to understand how small shop works. 1 transaction per merchant but 5 different merchants possible. This is clearly stated as part of the offer.

That was the benefit of multiple sup cards ;). Although they seem to have cut that back this year.

Sympathy from me though. I’ve accidentally doubled up at pubs before. Although generally later in the evening. Including once using a MasterCard and wondering why I didn’t get the email.

Most the stores I used last year have stopped accepting AMEX. So much for slashing points earn and increasing acceptance *rolleyes*

Got it on 2/2 cards, will be cancelling both at the end of the month - but I'll be really struggling to use the 10.

118,000 cap has now been reached. I understand that the cap was reached yesterday.
