AMEX - Shop Small November 2019

The promos are still generous imho, even if some recent ones have been for places I wouldn't normally use (but that's the point I guess.

Personally id prefer ShopSmall to be 10x$10 per account (with no additional allowance for sup cards)

With only 2 out of 9 cards getting this offer, I'm a bit disappointed having being a participant in Shop Small from the beginning. :( I guess I don't have to run around doing Opal card topups this year...maybe that's why I have been blacklisted?!

Loyalty is your enemy.

I haven't had an AMEX for 18 months, sign up 6 weeks ago and now I get small shop on everyone of my cards.

Some merchants have gone from the list as well. We have always had a couple of locals we frequent, and gotten the credit on all cards. Shopped yesterday (spend $20.47!) and no email confirmation. Checked the shop small map and they are no longer on it.
I remember the old shop small and the even better Harvey Norman offers. Haven’t had either for some time, but getting frequent offers for interstate stores and unheard of fashion labels.
Will be time to “consider cancelling my card” in the window between Shop Small ending and our renewal date in December.

I’d say there are good grounds for an AFCA complaint for those who could be bothered. Shop small is publicly advertised and in the case of my sup cards is even advertised on the home page, and the terms and conditions don’t say anything about it being targeted. It lists a few cards that aren’t eligible but that’s it.

Aren't other offers from AMEX that are targeted also advertised?

Not sure. Can’t say I’ve ever seen one. The last advertised one from memory was Vogue and that was openly available.

If they want to have restrictions, it needs to be in the T&Cs

Did my first small shop purchase earlier today.

After not having an AMEX for the last 18 months, it was like an old friend saying hello, when I received an instant email saying that my small shop purchase had been successful.

Oh and I enjoyed the $12.50 I paid at the local hamburger place instead of $22.50 as well :)

74 more transactions to go!

Has anyone had a credit from a merchant that uses square as their POS/credit card processor?

Just a warning:-
I've just been shopping today. Two stores told me that they do not accept Amex, yet are on the list. I usually shop at one of these shops and they told me that they've stopped accepting Amex a few weeks ago.
Last year I had the same issue at one store who insisted that they do not accept Amex.
So perhaps best to enquire before you shop.

I'd need an assistant to keep track of all that :p

How were you able to add the offers on all your cards? Was this not targetted? All your cards were targetted?

I don't know if the offer is targeted or not. But as I explained previously (perhaps in the other thread - a MOD has moved some posts) it took me an hour just as the offer opened to save it on all 15 cards.

Spreadsheet is a must.

Report this to AMEX. You'll be pleasantly surprised at their response :)

I have come late to the party and registered just now. I did not receive any correspondence, just logged in and went to my offers.

Edit: Just had another look and it is not showing as registered. Good thing I took a screen shot! ;)

Thank you so much for this.
Any idea of the contact number or email address I can use?
Top right-hand corner of the AMEX home page: “Contact us”, then Chat (or phone). I have used secure mail in the past but don’t see that option now.

I appear to have missed your post. I went back to the other thread and read the posts that I hadn’t read and couldn’t see it other than heaps of other people in the same boat I am in.

in previous years, I’ve got the link off OzB site and registered all of mine in less than an hour. Now I’ve been told I need to log into each individual card (supps can’t be accessed via primary card holders’ login) and register if I’ve been targeted for the offer for that card.

I’d be very grateful to you for posting a link to the post where you detail how you did it. Sounds like you have multiple Amex cards registered. I only seem to have received the targeted offer on 2 of my 5 accounts and then only for primary cards. Looks like I’ll be paying full price for opal trips this year :(

I understand Amex aren’t a charity but ...

I can't see the post now either. MODS did some strange stuff. I have no idea why.

I have separate logins for each card. Basically kept logging in and 'forced' the offer to appear. Definitely not available originally.
