Called to transfer to SPG today - was advised the same as above regarding transfer suspensions but surprisingly told the new transfer rate will be 1,000 Amex MR : 1,200 Marriott points!
AU could always be different.Haven't they already confirmed on peoples statement that it's going to be 3 MR:2 Marriott though, backing up what was reported by several blogs.

Doesn't sound right. Amex au have come out with a notice on statement 3:2?
So the effective rate for MR to SPG has gone from 0.5 to 0.4.
A 20% devaluation.
Isn't 3:2, 0.5 to 0.22??
1000:1200 is not 3:2.
I am willing to remain hopeful and optimistic until I see a communication from Amex about the new rate.So your basing it being 1000:1200 from one customer service rep, when there have been numerous reports about the transfer going to 3:2 by various au blogs and then a number of people reporting that they have had a note on their most recent issued AMEX statement about the transfer rate also going down to 3:2?
I'd love it to be 1000:1200, but I know which reports I believe, especially after the recent posts on this actual thread reporting that some customer reps would be processing their transfer after the 27th July, only for someone from AMEX ringing them back and saying it wasn't possible.

It is certainly possible that the reported 3:2 rate that we know will apply to USA Amex account may also be applied in Australia. I have read here some references to Australian members seeing this on their recent statements. There was nothing regarding SPG transfer rates on my most recent Amex statement and I still see nothing confirming new rates on the Australian Amex MT site. We also have multiple reports from Amex staff in Australia claiming that the new rate had not been set (as of last week at least). All of which I take with a grain of salt until we see an official statement from Amex/Marriott regarding the new rates.
A rate of 1000:1200 sounds a lot better to me than 3:2, and a rate I would be willing to accept as reasonable, even if disappointed it is not as generous as previous.
did you or anyone else get a call back from amex. I was supposed to get one yesterday and didnt`t.was also told this and that i will get a call back. fingers crossed
It doubt it is going to be the rate, but 1000:1200, sure beats the reported 3:2 rate. If it happens I’d consider us very lucky and you won’t hear a complaint from me.
My August Amex statement (at the very bottom of the last page) makes it quite clear, the new rate will be 3 Amex MR points = 2 Marriott rewards points.
