AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 100,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

Credit cards are a bit like dating... it depends on how keen the other side are to attract new business. CBA want to know your life story even if you're an existing customer. HSBC from memory was pretty easy. A lot of them want to give you more credit than absolutely necessary...

CreditSavvy show 4 applications and 3 annual "pings" from one card in 5 years, but I've actually applied and received 9 cards (and don't show my home loan). Veda show 7 cards and the home loan, but are missing two cards including the one that does the annual credit check.

Interesting to see what they miss for people.

There is no question Veda have more data than credit savvy but that is likely to change over time as the credit providers want more competition and to do that they need to even the field!

just a quick question on this card and some of the feature.
the free flight offered through the card does it give you status credits?
and also is it anywhere domestically or only for direct flights?
I live in TSV (basically the cough end of the earth ) and the only direct flights for me are BNE and SYD
so would they be my only options or could I go to Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra etc

No status credits. There's a link somewhere that shows the available flights.

Does anyone know roughly how long it takes for the bonus points to post? The T&Cs states 6 to 8 weeks if I recall. But some seem to have got them in a few days. I made a purchase on Monday and got the Virgin Cobrand Acquisition Bonus of $10k on Wednesday but nothing else. Is this all that I will get? I, like others, already have another Amex card, so don't know if they have tightened their criteria now :( I have made more than $1k in purchases already. Also, do the points only post overnight or during the day? Have I been checking during the day for no reason?!?! Cheers all.

Damn, I had this card last year when it came with 150 status credits. Only just cancelled it last month!

Bad timing :(

The full bonus posts just before your statement is issued.

Mine looked exactly the same as yours Eggsbenedict. Looks like they've solved the issue of people only getting 80k points.

Eggsbenedict above said it was posted 24 hours after $1000 spend and mine was about 2 days after first spend also.

I'd go as far to say that it should be about 48 hours after making your 1k minimum spend. Obviously everyone is having different experiences though

ALthough the problem appears to have been some people getting 80K points so Im not so sure a data point of 2 proves much more than you 2 have been lucky!

Yes to that last one. I made a +$1K purchase the day the card arrived and 80K points posted within a few days. This was one of the early 'qualifiers' I think, and they didn't have the full bonus programmed in. I called up, asking for the extra $30K points and the agent said they were REALLY surprised that the bonus (or part of it) has posted so quick. The extra 30K points posted a few days later. Statement arrived 3 weeks later.

How long after being referred did people get an outcome?

Re: AMEX Velocity Platinum Card - 110,000 Points / $349pa / $1000 Spend

Points are swept across to your Velocity account 4-5 days before your statement date.
